The Colle Piccino farmhouse, after 500 years, becomes Villa Archi: antique furnishings, air conditioning in the rooms, TV, Wi-Fi… but the authenticity remains
178 m2 including a large dining area, kitchen, 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. Outside there is a private pool, picnic area under the century old oak trees and a park that reaches the Vineyard. Inside the flooring is authentic from farming times, as is the enormous fireplace with niches on the side and the open gallery, but the style is refined and lively with antique furniture, coordinated upholstery and original paintings.
This is the largest villa at Fattoria del Colle, and the restyling has transformed it into a place for holidays for real Tuscany lovers. Only 200 m away, in the farm hamlet, there are a restaurant, the wellness area, the winery for wine and oil tastings, the cookery school and 3 equipped parks. All this plus the daily activities offered which enrich guests’ stays: brief cookery lessons, tastings, and guided tours also to the winery Casato Prime Donne in Montalcino. What I have described is a beautiful place where to spend your holidays as a group (there are 14 beds) but there is much more to consider.
Do you know what the real luxury is? To live in an authentic and well cared for place, surrounded by a landscape of harmonies and hear only the noise the wind makes.
Do you feel all this is banal? In reality they are very rare. First of all these are very rare things. To see countryside without chimneys, roads, and hotels that in the countryside at night resembles nuclear power stations. Plus it is difficult to find old buildings that are still intact, I mean without the refined but heavy restoration that gives farmhouses the touch of the architect rather than that of the famers, and in the end change places into non-places that might be anywhere in the world. And finally the silence, to get away from traffic nowadays is very difficult.
All of this is present at Villa Archi. There is a 360° view of complete beauty. From the swimming pool one can see the medieval village of Trequanda, from the lodge at the villa and better still from under the hundred year old oak trees, the panorama is over the Crete Senesi as far as Montalcino and Siena. IT is so beautiful that everyone and I mean absolutely everyone takes photos. The bedrooms look over a small over grove and the Fattoria del Colle and in the distance the countryside and the woods that go up toward the Val d’Orcia.
Do you like it? This is the authentic Tuscan countryside
