Vinitaly 2018 sees the launching of a special edition of 50 pieces, Magnums “dressed” with a spectacular lamp in Tuscan style.

CENERENTOLA’S STORY BECOMES A WINE

Once upon a time there was a nice young girl called Cenerentola (Cinderella). The prince invites her sisters to the party, but she stays at home until a fairy visits her bringing her a wonderful gown….Once upon a time there was a wine appellation called DOC Orcia. She had two sisters, older and more famous than her, Brunello and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano that are on the left and the right. She too would like to go to balls, where her sisters’ bottles go, and so the fairy, represented by Donatella Cinelli Colombini, dresses our DOC Orcia Cenerentola with a gown made of light and sends her to the party. This really does seem like a fairy tale with a happy ending. The special edition of 50 pieces, Magnums dressed with a spectacular lamp in Tuscan style will be protagonist at Vinitaly 2018 at Hall 6 Stand D4 under Donatella Cinelli Colombini

THE TRUE STORY OF CENERENTOLA DOC ORCIA

Lamp-Cenerentola

Lamp-Cenerentola

The young and feisty Doc Orcia was born on February 14th 2000. In the area of Trequanda (SI) where the Fattoria del Colle was  built in 1592 by the ancestors of Donatella Cinelli Colombini, the present owner.

Donatella believes in this appellation, so much so that she is the president of this Consortium. She also believes in autochthonous varieties with the features of their old identity that give a unique stamp to wines from a specific territory. This is why she recovered the old Sienese variety Foglia Tonda with its distinctive features, abandoned  for almost a century, and experimented on the best ways of cultivating it, containing  its natural tendency to produce too many clusters.  A long study, with a few setbacks and many trials with the help of Professor Cesare Intrieri of the University of Bologna and with the fervent support of Valérie Lavigne at of the University of Bordeaux. Italian wines and the world’s most powerful people

Donald Trump is a teetotaller but he does make wine and on election night toasted with Amarone. Italian wines on presidential tables

Di Donatella Cinelli Colombini, Orcia Doc, Cenerentola

Let’s begin with a recent example: on the morning of November 9th, when Donald Trump’s victory as President of the US is sure, his friend Flavio Briatore rapidly sends to the Trump Tower three magnums of Amarone with personalized labels with a note saying «Dear Donald, we did it >>. This is quite strange as Trump proclaims to be a teetotaller even though he owns since 2011 a winery in Charlottesville, in Virginia run by his son Eric Donald. In truth buying it at an auction Trump said to the previous owner Patricia Kluge,

<<You have a great nose for wine, I do not>>. This agreement was born more from an investment point of view rather than from a love of wine <<This place has a mortgage for 28 million dollars and I bought it for 6,2 million. It is a Trump-deal>> he said, but as usual he has put his name on the labels. Another of his mania is that of branding everything: water, tea, chocolate……..everything labelled Donald Trump. The DOCG dinners in the Osteria di Donatella

3 traditional recipes with a pinch of novelty studied especially for the Chianti Superiore 2011 and the Brunello 2009 and 2008 Riserva a stone’s through from the vineyard

cuisine DOCG at fattoria del Colle

cuisine DOCG at fattoria del Colle

This is practically a full immersion in wine! Donatella Cinelli Colombini has asked her new chef at Fattoria del Colle, Roberta Archetti, to create dishes in perfect harmony with three DOCG wines so as to offer guests a new an interesting experience in her winery.

Harmonious tastes in a harmonious ambiance with new very Tuscan furnishings and a panorama which resembles a nativity scene with the vineyards at a stones through and the hamlet of Trequanda just in the background.

Chef Roberta Archetti comes from Brescia, and has chosen Tuscany and cooking as the pillars of her life, in her curriculum an excellent point comes from the period spent at the Dal Pescatore in Canneto sull’ Oglio  with the myth Nadia Santini.

A wet bride is a lucky bride if there is a beautiful winery

Let me tell you about a wedding among the barrels, aperitif in the historic cellar and a candle lite wedding banquet in the veranda among the vines. Do you like it?

Seen for you by Donatella Cinelli Colombini

Wedding in the winery Tuscany Fattoria del Colle

Wedding in the winery Tuscany Fattoria del Colle

A really special wedding, ideal for those who choose the Tuscan countryside because of its special touch in uniqueness and charm which comes from the wine’s magic.
The Fattoria del Colle winery has a large hall covered by brick vaulted ceiling, along the walls are situated the small barrels where the Orcia Doc Cenerentola wine ages. This is the location where to organize the ceremony with the altar and the chairs for the wedding couple covered in white satin. It is not a Church (by the way the estate has a delightful chapel that can welcome up to 40 guests) but the effect is all the same solemn , even though quite unusual.
Next to the barrel ageing area, where there are still visible traces of the original medieval walls, is where the aperitif is served. This is a suggestive area which gives the buffet a particular Tuscan imprint. In other words it is not an anonymous frame for the wedding of a couple who has chosen Tuscany to celebrate their love.

Cenerentola 2010, will the Prince Charming fall in love?

2010, the perfect grape harvest, one that all wine makers dream about. Cenerentola, the flagship wine for Fattoria del Colle, Orcia Doc

Cenerentola 2010 chestnuts and Foglia Tonda

Cenerentola 2010 chestnuts and Foglia Tonda

It comes from the Sangiovese and Foglia Tonda vineyards at 400 metres above sea level in a ventilated position and well exposed to the sun. Hand picked grapes which are chosen once arrived in the cellar, where the selection table allows one to choose only the best grapes.

In the Fattoria del Colle winery the Cenerentola wine is aged in 500-700 litre tonneaux and in small French oak casks for one year. It is a satisfying wine, harmonious, powerful and long lasting because, the great vintages have quite the ability to reach soon very high quality levels and to maintain them for decades

A wine with solely Tuscan characteristics because it contains two traditionally old varieties: the elegant Sangiovese king of the Italian vineyard and the powerful Foglia Tonda which originates in the southern Siena area, which Fattoria del Colle has emphasized after nearly one century of disuse.

So finally Cenerentola (Cinderella) is about to become a princess. This wine owes its name to the position of the DOC Orcia wine region, born in 2000, between the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and the Brunello di Montalcino wine areas. Practically a challenge for the new wine appellation towards the two more famous and important “sisters”. But will it be the 2010 vintage that the Prince Charming will fall in love with?
