Foreign buyer shunt for Italian vineyards: not only people from the US and northern Europe as in the past but also millionaires from Bric nations.
So we have Russians who buy up the historic Gancia di Canelli winery, the Brazilian banker Andrè Santos Esteves who buys the Tenuta di Argiano in Montalcino. A few days ago some South Africans planted their flag near the Monna Lisa – La Gioconda- Vignamaggio villa in the heart of Chianti Classico. But there are also buyers from China around and this keeps the prices high both of the big estates and of the small, which are more prestigious regardless, that the number of estates on sales is higher than ever before.

The prices of “villa with Vineyard” are stable, this type permits one toassociate to a wine production their holidays in Italy with family and friends. We are guests in a villa in Veneto, belonging to the Bertani family, where Foscolo wrote the “Dei Sepolcri”; there is a cellar dating back to 1098 and the frescoes are from the 18th century by Pesci from Bologna. A fairytale frame for 40 producers who have come from all over Italy to hear, for first, the novelties regarding next Vinitaly. And there are lots of them!

For women wine is not for home

The fair sex prefer an aperitif out of the home (67%) while men are more stay-at-home (47%) this distinguishes wine consumption between men and women. 

The survey carried out during Vinitaly 2013 on a 3.000 visitors of the fair, portrays the different attitudes between male and female wine lovers. 44% of men are habitual drinkers and do so at home, while women prefer a less frequent consumption  ( 42% drink wine 3 volte a week) and out of the home.

The frequency of wine consumption growth with age and both genders concentrate their drinking during the weekend (75%). Women especially like to taste a nice glass of wine as an aperitif, for dinner, or even after dinner but in more convivial situations. Read more…
