During “Buy Tuscany” the previews of the great Tuscan red wines: Brunello di Montalcino, Chianti Classico and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano
Seen for you by Donatella Cinelli Colombini
La series of events to present the new vintages of Brunello, Chianti Classico and Nobile is a marathon that lasts 9 days and that will involve journalists and operators from all over the world.
It begins Monday 20th in the great Chianti region, then moves to the fortress in Montepulciano, and the grand finale in Montalcino where 220 journalists are expected, half of which from abroad and 4000 buyers. The will taste the wines of 140 wineries.
The presentation of this event, unique in its sector, takes place somewhere else, but the location chosen has a special appeal. The event took place on February 16th in the Stazione Leopolda in Florence. An unused train station and now transformed into a very suggestive location for events. Here the Regione Toscana had organized a workshop with a simple formula for meetings between operators and wineries. The producers had very small areas where they could give the guests a tasting and explain their wineries. Very very much better than the very
expensive traditional fairs, access reserved solely to buyers, fact surely appreciated greatly by the wineries.
So this is where the press meeting to present the 2012 preview of Tuscan wines takes place. I and the other Brunello producers are preparing a memorable event, regardless of the snowfalls and winds which have seriously created problems during the preparations.
We have three great vintage to present: Rosso di Montalcino 2010, Brunello 2007 and Brunello Riserva 2006. This is something exceptional, something memorable and it must be celebrated!
Benvenuto Brunello2012 with be housed in 4 buildings in the historic
centre of Montalcino: le spectacular Gothic cloister in Sant’Agostino, the 16th century Palazzo Pieri, the small but exquisite Teatro degli Astrusi and the Palazzo Vescovile , which will be kindly be put at our disposal by hi excellence the Arcivescovo. The Brunello wine will consequently be framed by its history and its town (Montalcino was a town and not a village until half way through the 15th century).

The novelties for the 2012 edition will basically be a couple: a charity action and the creation of the first social Italian wine event, or rather a live connection with operators and wine lovers al lover the world. These will be able to “virtually” take part in the event through the social networks in Italian and in English. Videos, photos, interviews, and comments will make this edition the first “global” Benvenuto Brunello.
