The feeling is that of being in the emergent part of Montalcino, the coolest one, which has received the biggest benefits from the global warming and which expresses itself with elegant Brunellos.
Brunello wines are greatly appreciated abroad, especially in those countries where wine lovers use to drink bottles coming from the major French Chateau, and prefer those Italian wines with a great harmony and a very long aftertaste.
Casato Prime Donne Brunello belongs to this type of wine: evidence of ripe fruit with soft tannins, roundness and imperceptible but excellent wood.
At the moment our Brunellos from Casato Prime Donne and Orcia DOC wines and Chianti from Fattoria del Colle are at ProWein, the big wine fair in Dusseldorf, where Violante is waiting for importers and experts inside Hall 3, position L51, together with Tuscan wines.
The feedbacks we receive from the market and from experts fill us with satisfaction.
Here there are the ratings we received during the last month:
Brunello di Montalcino 2008 has the cover of ‘Wine’, the main wine magazine in Czech republic
Walter Speller– one of the biggest British expert of Italian wines, writes for
the estimated, potent and feared, “Fine Wine Writing & Wine Reviews” by the Master of Wine Jancis Robinson. Speller has reviewed 166 Brunello 2009, ours has obtained a wonderful 16,5/20 << Leafy nose with a beautiful oatmeal note. Juicy cherry fruit. Has real freshness about it and a good dose of crunchy tannins>>
From Canada we received other good news by Evan Saviolidis, one of the most reputated wine writer and wine educator. He has published his ratings just after the wine tasting organized by Consorzio del Brunello which involved 32 wineries from Montalcino; here it is his review of our Brunello 2009 << One of the highlight’s at this year’s Brunello tasting in Toronto was this producer. …The 09 reveals cherry, flowers, humus, spice and tobacco both on the nose and palate. The acidity and tannins will allow cellaring until 2022>> rating 91/100
More or less the same rating – 90/100 – given to our Brunello 09 by ‘Wine Advocate’ where Monica Larner agrees with the above description in many points << The 2009 Brunello di Montalcino eases over the palate with steady momentum, imparting delicious tones of ripe cherry, kirsch, espresso and licorice along the way. The wine shows good lenght and balance with a more streamlined plate compared to recent vintages.>>
