Live on a traditional farm, taste great Tuscan red wines, taste Antonio's new recipes (the chef), regenerate yourself in the new wellness centre at Fattoria del Colle in Trequanda.
Programme
Friday
Arrival at Fattoria del Colle and settle into accommodation
8.00 pm Welcoming aperitif and candle-lit dinner with typical dishes from Trequanda, such as "Maltagliati al ragù bianco di anatra" and the "Tagliata all'uso della Valdichiana", one wine included
Saturday
8.30 – 10.00am Breakfast with a spectacular buffet of cold meats, cheeses, omelettes and home baked cakes.
10.00 am to 12,00 midday
Two hour wellness experience.
The wellness centre is behind the 16th century villa, in from of a breathtaking view. It is particular because of the modern and refined design, to which have been added some hand made tiles, made from 19th century images which recall Turkish baths and the odalisques painted by Ingres. The wellness centre is equipped with a Turkish bath, sauna, relaxation room, sensorial shower, Kneipp experience and Jacuzzi.
You will receive two wine goblets and a bottle Rosso di Montalcino for you to have toast in front of the Crete Senesi panorama.
1.00 pm Light lunch at the Osteria di Donatella, at Fattoria del Colle, with Rosa di Tetto, Igt Toscana included.
3.00 pm Set off for the Casato Prime Donne winery in Montalcino
3.30 pm Guided tour and barrel tasting of a future Brunello di Montalcino, tasting of 3 different Brunello. In the cellar one finds the barrels which are alternated with frescoes regarding the history of Montalcino.
In the vineyards there is a trail path with contemporary art which will leave you speechless.
Afternoon free for visiting Montalcino (14th century fortress, Romanic abbey of Sant'Antimo).
8.00 pm Fattoria del Colle : Candle-lit dinner with a menu of traditional Tuscan dishes based on extra virgin olive oil, two wines included.
Sunday
8.30 – 10.00 am Breakfast with home baked cakes and tarts, and "pinzimonio"
11.00 am Fattoria del Colle, guided tour of Donatella Cinelli Colombini's villa and cellar: Hall of the coat of arms, kitchen with monumental fireplace, the bedroom that once belonged to the Grand Duke of Tuscany, the 16th century chapel. This is a real return to the old style Tuscany.
At the end of the visit one arrives in the historic cellar for a tasting of the Doc Orcia and Chianti Superiore Docg wines, and then a tasting of our extra virgin olive oil.
In the neighbouring areas we suggest a tour (with your own car) of the small cities of art a short distance away: Pienza, San Quirico d'Orcia and Bagno Vignoni, Montepulciano, Cortona ..... We advise Sheppard's Ragnaia, the castle and the truffle museum at San Giovanni d'Asso as well as the Monte Oliveto Maggiore abbey with its large cloister with frescoes by Sodoma and Signorelli.
Or, for those who prefer to dedicate their whole day to their wellness we suggest the Bagno Vignoni thermal spa, the Antica Querciolaia thermal baths in Rapolano Terme and Fonteverde in San Casciano dei Bagni which are all very close to Fattoria del Colle.
