The “Casato Prime Donne “award 2003 edition given to Carla Fracci and Nomisma
On September 20th in Montalcino the “Casato Prime Donne “award celebrated the land of great wines and women. In fact women are the new protagonists in the wine world: 50% of young wine consumers are women. They are prevalently from the North East, and have been to college or university and drink 2-3 times a week. In Montalcino the face chosen to represent femininity in wine was that of the greatest Italian ballerina of all times, Carla Fracci, who has chosen the Chianti region for her second home.
During the “Casato Prime Donne” award giving ceremony in the theatre in Montalcino, prizes were given to those who study, photograph and divulge the Brunello territory. The winners were ALBINO RUSSO, DENIS PANTINI and PIETRO GORDINI from Nomisma, MAURIZIO LEONI the photographer, journalists BIANCA PESSI and LORENZO FRASSOLDATI, the internet portal “Wine News” by ALESSANDRO REGOLI and IRENE CHIARI, the television producer NINO CRISCENTI.
The “Casato Prime Donne “award has a jury consists of representatives of the sponsoring institutions – Provincia and Camera di Commercio di Siena, Montalcino Municipality of Montalcino. Monte dei Paschi di Siena Bank, Consorzio del Brunello – and members of culture such as Mario Luzi, Sergio Zavoli, and Mario Guidotti. After the award, at Fattoria del Colle in Trequanda a gala dinner was served in honour of the winners, during which Donatella Cinelli Colombini and her husband Carlo Gardini celebrated their Silver wedding anniversary.
