The Casato Prime Donne prize 2006 was awarded to the volunteer workers of the Telefono Rosa Association.Awarded on September 16th in the theatre in Montalcino to President Maria Gabriella Carnieri Moscatelli who leads the 70 volunteer workers who aid women who have been subjected to violence.
The 2006 edition was been dedicated to the Mayor of Montalcino Massimo Ferretti who passed away prematurely last April 2nd.
“Stronger together” this is the motto for the volunteer workers of the Telefono Rosa Association who were awarded the “Casato prime Donne “Award in the Montalcino theatre last September 16th.
The award is named after a Brunello producing winery, the only one in Italy were only women are employed, and this is now a symbol of new femininity and of the great Italian wine production. This award is given every year to the protagonists of women’s human, social and economical emancipation. The President of the jury is Francesca Colombini. The other members are Ilda Bartoloni, Minister Rosy Bindi, Anselma Dell’Olio, Marialina Marcucci, Melania Mazzucco and Anna Pesenti.
The Casato Prime Donne award comes at a delicate time. “This year sexual abuse has increased, the number of abuses reported has increased. The worrying factor is the decrease in age of the young women victims of abuse, and of the young abusers” explains Maria Gabriella Carnieri Moscatelli, President of the Telefono Rosa Association.
Since 1988 about 600.000 women have called the Telefono Rosa numbers for Rome, Turin, Mantua, Verona, and Vicenza.
The other sections of the Casato Prime Donne award had more than 100 participants divided between journalism, photography and research in wine-production.
The Provincia di Siena prize for literature and science of wine production was awarded by the Head of Agriculture Claudio Galletti to CESARE INTRIERI, Professore Ordinario of the University of Bologna, author of books and articles regarding innovative wine productions.
President of the Chamber of Commerce of Siena Vittorio Galgani awarded the best photograph portraying the “People and lands of Brunello and Orcia wines”. The fifty-member jury chose the image by ANDREA RABISSI.
The MPS Banca per l’Impresa Award regarding “Quality, environment, landscape: sustainable development” was given to FABIO PICCOLI for his book La comunicazione nel Food & Beverage a manual for communication. The Comune di Montalcino awarded ISABELLA MEZZA its prize for her piece for “Agritre” in the news on the RAI 3 channel.
JAN VAN LISSUM and FRED NIJHUIS receive the Consorzio del Brunello di Montalcino award for the article De Klassiekers uit Toscane published in the Dutch magazine “Proefschrift”.
The award Montalcino its history, its art, its wine described by a woman went to PAOLA IADELUCA for three articles in “Affari & Finanza” and “Viaggi di Repubblica”.
