<<The 18th Casato Prime Donne award sends a strong  message regarding women’s role in the construction of a dialogue with the Muslim world and a repudiation of terrorism>> says Donatella Cinelli Colombini president of the jury presenting Chaimaa Fatihi who has had the courage to openly declared her hatred for those who kill in the name of her same religion. Chaimaa is a pacifist who wears a veil as a sign of devotion even though she is often attacked for this choice of hers.

The award giving ceremony took place on September 18th in Montalcino in the just renovated Teatro degli Astrusi. The jury made up of Donatella Cinelli Colombini, Rosy Bindi, Anselma Dell’Olio, Anna Pesenti, Stefania Rossini, Anna Scafuri and Daniela Viglione, has once again chosen someone with courage and who creates for women a new role in the society.

“MONTALCINO AND  I” AWARD For Italian or foreign writers and journalists who are authors of articles, books, radio or television programmes, or web pages on the theme “Montalcino and I”, personal interpretation even in fantasy or fable key of Montalcino in its historic, cultural, landscape and agricultural aspects assigned to Giuseppe Casciaro for his article Dall’albergo vicino a Montalcino un panorama suggestivo. Castello di Velona pubblished in “Repubblica”. Casciaro is a reporter. Chief Editor of the Roman daily supplements he writes about practically everything, among which travel and health where he shows great competence and sensibility. His article on Montalcino is a brief travel report, very ironic, and pressing. Able to charm and surprise the readers who already know the area.  

 “CONSORZIO DEL BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO” AWARD

For Italian or foreign journalists specialised in wine production, who are authors of books or articles published in newspapers or cultural and information magazines, or radio or television programmes, or web pages about “Brunello and other wines of Montalcino” assigned to Bruno Gambacorta by the President of the Consorzio Patrizio Cencioni, for the TV program 50 anni della DOC shown on TG2 Eat Parade. He is a great friend of Montalcino and of Brunello and he has a very personal way, to make food and wine television friendly, making them flash bits of information that attract the public, to then propose true pictures of ambiance where the interviews and the images capture the essence. His deep competence regarding Italy and its flavours has made his program Eat Parade what wine lovers and obviously Brunello lovers cannot miss.

“MONTALCINO, ITS HISTORY, ITS ART, ITS WINE” DESCRIBED BY A WOMAN AWARD

For articles, books, radio or television programmes, or web pages, by women preferably referring to subjects regarding the protection of the environment was awarded to  Filippa Lagerback for her programme In bici con Filippa: Montalcino shown on “Bike Channel” in October 2015. A very well know face on TV, Filippa is her as presenter of a journey by bike that takes the spectators out to discover the Brunello territory. She is a great sustainer of sustainable mobility, and all that is green <<education as a form of liberation, of justice, of sport ….. How to feel good inside and out>> A slow and attentive type of tourism that in Montalcino finds its ideal destination.  

AWARD FOR PHOTOGRAPHS REGARDING THE BRUNELLO AND ORCIA WINES’ PEOPLE AND TERRITORIES
