Frances Mayes author of Under the Tuscan Sun is the Prima Donna 2007 Prizes given also for the science of wine making and for the best literature regarding the Montalcino territory.

The Manifesto delle Pari Opportunità in cantina has been signed by 18 pink ribbon wineries. The woman who has made the whole world fall in love with the southern Tuscany is the winner of the Casato Prime Donne award, assigned on September 15th 2007 in the Montalcino theatre. The President of the jury of the Casato Prime Donne award Francesca Colombini Cinelli and the other members, Ilda Bartoloni, Rosy Bindi, Anselma Dell'Olio, Marialina Marcucci, Melania Mazzucco and Anna Pesenti have seen in Frances Mayes an example of new femininity, which is creative, anti conformist and able to dialogue with people all over the world. Awards went also to the best contributions of the science of wine making, photography and journalism regarding the Montalcino territory. Claudio Galletti awarded the Provincia di Siena prize to the enologists of the Universities of Bordeaux and Reims P.Ribàreau-Gayon, D.Dubourdieu, B.Doneche, A. Lonvaud, Yves Glories, Alain Maujean for their monumental enology treaty. The prize for photography awarded by the President of the Chamber of Commerce of Siena Vittorio Galgani went to Andrea Rontini, Saverio Carpinelli of MPS per l'Impresa awarded Slow Food for the volume Terra Madre, 1600 comunità del cibo. Egle Pagano awarded by the mayor Maurizio Buffi the Comune di Montalcino prize for her article Pregare nel Tempio del Brunello published in Il Secolo XIX. The Consorzio del Brunello di Montalcino awarded Othmar Kiem their prize for the article Gluckseligkeit und tiefe Abgrunde published in Fallstaff and Monica Larner, Italian correspondent for the American magazine Wine Enthusiast has been chosen as best female writer. At the end of the ceremony the Manifesto delle pari opportunità in cantina has been signed with a group of 18 wineries who have taken the commitment to respect a complete equality in the retribution and promotion between men and women.
