Those who want to regenerate in spirit and body will find, at Fattoria del Colle, a place that will take them back in time, as if in the home of their “Tuscan grandparents”, the possibility of enriching themselves with 4 experiences in which to learn, in a fun way, what is in a glass of Brunello, Orcia DOC or Chianti Superiore, the three-century war between Florence and Siena, or how to prepare Pinci (fresh pasta typical of Southern Tuscany) and try the wine pairings in the estate restaurant where the chef Doriana and the maître Alfredo are also sommeliers… And then trekking, silent parks, relaxation even with massages and wine baths in the natural wellness area of ​​the farm.

For those seeking deeper internal regeneration there is the nearby abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore with the monastic community and cloisters frescoed with the story of San Benedetto, or, an hour’s drive away, Assisi.

To make the nature experience unique, we propose an excursion in the woods in search of the Marzuolo truffle with the truffle hunter Patrizio and his dogs.*

THE PRICE INCLUDES

  •     Overnight stay in a double room or apartment. In historic buildings, furnished with real antique furniture but with modern comfort.

  •     Guided tour of the historical environments of the Fattoria del Colle built in 1592 on a medieval tower. The visit includes: sixteenth-century kitchen, coat of arms hall, billiard room, San Clemente chapel and Italian garden. At the end tasting of 2 Orcia Doc wines and of 3 different 2023 extra virgin olive oils
  •     Guided tour of the Casato Prime Donne winery in Montalcino (to be reached by car) with “vertical” tastings that allow you to understand the evolution of Brunello from barrel to bottle.
  •     Guided tour on the theme “Wine, vineyard and video” in the cellars of the Fattoria del Colle including the cellar, the sparkling wine aging area and the room that teaches how to listen to the vineyards. At the end, tasting of the Metodo Classico Brut Spumante made from Sangiovese grapes.
  •     Cooking lesson on Pinci, the typical local handmade pasta

MARCH 29th GOOD FRIDAY

Welcome and accommodation in the rooms or in the farmhouse apartments

 

7.00 pm Aperitif in the barn room at Fattoria del Colle from which it is possible to enjoy a spectacular view of the village of Trequanda.  A welcoming toast accompanied by the savoury Easter cake from Valdichiana

8.00 pm Dinner in the veranda of the Osteria with a view of the village of Trequanda. A la carte dinner (not included in the offer, to be booked). For those who want to celebrate Easter Eve, we recommend tasting the Pinci all’aglione (giant garlic grown in Valdorcia and Valdichiana and also called “kiss-proof garlic” because it doesn’t smell so much) and the traditional Cod “alla fratina” from Trequanda

MARCH 30 EASTER SATURDAY

8.30 – 10 am. In the farm restaurant. Buffet breakfast with homemade desserts, cold cuts, cheeses, dips, omelettes and hot drinks

*** We suggest a visit to the historic centre of Montalcino and the fourteenth-century fortress which dominates the medieval town and offers a spectacular panorama of the land of Brunello. 10 km from Montalcino is the Abbey of Sant’Antimo, a Romanesque jewel.

3.30 pm Casato Prime Donne di Montalcino (to be reached by car) GUIDED TOUR WITH “VERTICAL” TASTING OF BRUNELLO. Guests will visit the vat cellar, the barrel cellar and the tasting room, stopping to taste the future Brunello from the cask, the Rosso di Montalcino, which is obtained from the same Sangiovese grape, but is intended to be drunk younger, therefore the Brunello 2019 and finally the 2018 Riserva. Together with the wine, the guide will explain the history of Montalcino and its wines with the help of the projection of sounds and images in the vat cellar.

5.00pm TASTING OF GREAT VINTAGES AND SELECTIONS OF BRUNELLO (for a fee of €74.00 per person. The tasting will be activated upon reaching a minimum group of 6 PEOPLE) For wine lovers the experience continues with the tasting of 6 Brunellos from 3 great vintages in the Prime Donne selection and Riserva versions 2016, 2015, 2013. The tasting allows you to understand the specificity of each harvest and the way in which Sangiovese allows for different interpretations.

8.00 pm TRADITIONAL DINNER in the Fattoria del Colle restaurant. On the menu 4 courses of traditional and creative cuisine. Pappardelle, very thick typical fresh Tuscan pasta;  served with a wild boar sauce. For lovers of red meat we suggest the Chianina steak, the white giant native to this area. MARCH 31ST EASTER SUNDAY

8.30 – 10. Buffet breakfast with homemade desserts, cold cuts, cheeses, dips, omelettes and hot drinks

10.00 am BRIEF COOKING LESSON REGARDING PINCI,  TYPICAL HANDMADE FRESH SIENESE PASTA

11.00 am (depart 20 minutes earlier using your own car) Holy Mass with Gregorian chants, Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore, 12 km from Fattoria del Colle. The abbey was founded in 1313 by San Bernardo Tolomei who became a saint in 2009. The most interesting artistic testimony is the cycle of frescoes regarding the life of San Benedetto, painted in the large cloister by Luca Signorelli and Giovanni Bazzi known as Sodoma. Visits from 9.30am – 12.00pm and 3.30pm – 6.00pm

1.00 pm Easter lunch (menu displayed at reception, to be booked)

*** We suggest a visit to San Quirico d’Orcia, a jewel of art along the Via Francigena (Collegiata, Palazzo Chigi, Horti Leonini) and Bagno Vignoni which preserves the large basin in which Saint Catherine and Lorenzo the Magnificent bathed. Right next to the tub is the Toscana Lovers shop which sells the best of Tuscan craftsmanship.

5.30 pm GUIDED TOUR OF THE FATTORIA DEL COLLE WITH TASTING OF TWO ORCIA WINES (Leone Rosso Orcia Doc and Cenerentola Doc Orcia) and 3 types of extra virgin olive oil. Starting from the courtyard of the farm, the itinerary includes the historical room of the villa where the owner still lives today: the coat of arms hall, the sixteenth-century kitchen and the billiard room, the sixteenth-century chapel and the Italian garden. At the end, tasting of EVO oil and Orcia wine.

8.00 pm Dinner at the Fattoria del Colle restaurant starting with the Condito, a dish of the ancient peasant tradition that the brave accompany with onion. Followed by the handmade Ravioli and then the Peposo dish of Renaissance origin and typical of the areas, such as Trequanda, with terracotta furnaces. (€43 drinks not included).

 

APRIL 1st  EASTER  MONDAY

 

8.30am – 10am. Fattoria del Colle restaurant. Buffet breakfast with homemade desserts, cold cuts, cheeses, dips, omelettes and hot drinks

11.00 am VISIT TO THE CELLARS. Departure from the farm courtyard. The itinerary includes a visit to the  Chianti Superiore, DOC Orcia and Spertuscan cellars, with the Brunello infernotto, the barrel cellar, the vinsantaia, the fermentation area, the Spumante refinement room and the new room that teaches how to “listen to the vineyards ”. At the end, a farewell toast with the Metodo Classico brut rosé Spumante  created by Donatella Cinelli Colombini with only Sangiovese grapes.

Alternatively, departure at 9.00 am with Patrizio to search for truffles.

1pm brunch in the Farmhouse restaurant. Spaghetti followed by a platter of cured meats and cheeses and desserts typical of the Sienese tradition (€31 wine not included)
