For fine wines the present trends will be reinforced during 2017

1) Auctions: prices of wines for investment will grow again after years of stagnation, a favourable moment for the First Growth or rather the Bordeaux Premier crus while the Burgundy wines will be mined by the Italian wines and by Champagne.

2) The Super Tuscans and the bottles from Piedmont emerge from the obscurity created by the Bolgheri wines

3) Cabernet and other Californian wines will gain market share.

4) The Bordeaux from 2015 will obtain great approval from the critics but their commercial success depends a lot upon the prices.

5) Finally it seems that the run-up of the prices of the wines from Burgundy has ended.  Romané Conti has accomplished sales that blow your mind in 2016, but in the future this growth will slow down.

6) Prestigious Champagnes will become a must for the main wineries, at the rhythm of two per brand. So there is once again the desire to invest in bottles of wine, those with prices that have 2-3 zeros, and Italy has a great slice of this business full of glitter

and billionaires. It is sufficient to see the increase in Italian labels in the LivEx Power 100 list based on which the calculation of the market of fine wines is calculated. We find Ornellaia (2), Sassicaia (2), Solaia and Masseto while Giacomo Conterno will soon be included too. LivEx is a sort of trading desk for wines for investment, those destined to be stored in a safe together with jewellery, diamonds, pictures, and shares. Just as on finance websites in LivEx there is a constant flow of figures with the quotations of the bottles. Clicking on Haut Brion 2005 you get the price of cases of 12, 6 and 3 bottles, and the fluctuation in value of the past 10 years and at the end a button for ordering.

Mouton-Rothschild

Mouton-Rothschild

The wine world has a positive sensation and it is reflected in a renewed interest for fine wines. The WineSearcher portal has recently published a list of the most sought out labels, those that have attracted the most curiosity from wine lovers: in first position Mouton Rothschild, with 100.991 searches in one month. This means that every minute five people, anywhere I the world, seek out news about the prestigious winery in Bordeaux. Followed by Château Lafite Rothschild and Château Margaux. The most searched for out of the Italian is Sassicaia with 40.276 searches per month then Tignanello, Masseto and Ornellaia. In other words if from the French side there are the Rothschild’s on our sides we have the Tuscan marquises who wish to reach the summit of the market.
