Grape Harvest experience during the September and October weekends

Brunello, Chianti and Orcia, a grape harvest full- experience during the last two weekends in September and the first two in October at Fattoria del Colle


18-20, 25-27 September, 2-4, 9-11 October at Fattoria del Colle to experience the grape harvesting of fine red Tuscan wines while sleeping among the vines.


The program includes tours, tastings, direct experiences and a lesson with super experts such as Leonardo Romanelli and Franco Pallini

Fattoria del Colle is a small hamlet built at the end of the 16th century with villa, chapel, farmhouses transformed into lodgings for guests and furnished with antiques and modern comfort.

Upon request , to be paid extra, dinner dedicated to the Montalcino traditions: pappardelle col sugo di cinghiale, scottiglia di pollo, modern and traditional Mantovana (30€ wines not included)



8,00 – 10,00 am Breakfast with home baked biscuits and cakes, vegetables with an extra virgin olive oil dip, omelettes, cold cuts and cheeses


10,00 am At the Fienile- Old Barn- the experience called “Winemaker for a day” during which everybody will produce their own Supertuscan wine to take home.


11,00 am In-sight lesson regarding Tuscany and Sangiovese with a prestigious wine critic


Upon request, to be paid extra, and to be booked before 10 am. Brunch made up of and experience of a mix of 8 local cheeses and a glass of Chianti Superiore (18€ per person)


Depending on the grape harvest phases, tours and participation in the grape picking and the vinification of the grapes. Sampling of the must and meeting with the winemakers (at Fattoria del Colle in Trequanda or Casato Prime Donne in Montalcino)


4,00 pm at Casato  Prime Donne. Tour of the winery Casato Prime Donne in Montalcino with an itinerant tasting (barrel tasting, Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello and Brunello Riserva).


8,00 pm Fattoria del Colle tasting dinner with 4 traditional accompanied by 3 wines. The meal includes zuppa di fagioli,  pinci al sugo toscano antico, tagliata di bue chianino and crostata di fichi. The wines paired to the dishes will be IGT Toscana Sanchimento, Leone Rosso, Brunello Prime Donne 2015




8,00 – 10,00 am Breakfast with home baked biscuits and cakes, vegetables with an extra virgin olive oil dip, omelettes, cold cuts and cheeses


10,30 am Guided tour of the estate, the panoramas, the Italian style garden, the chapel dedicated to Saint Clement and the barrel ageing from outside. Tasting of Chianti Superiore, Supertuscan IGT, Orcia Doc Cenerentola and Passito obtained from Traminer grapes


Guided visit to the vineyard and learn more thanks to the tasting of the grapes together with one of our lady wine makers


12,30 am Farewell toast in the historic cellar, awarding of the diplomas, and group photo.


Upon request, to be paid extra, and to be booked within 10am. Brunch with an experience of 8 local cold cuts with a glass of Chianti Superiore (18€ per person)

The harvesting moment for the Brunello, Chianti and Doc Orcia grapes is a privileged moment for wine tourism, especially in Tuscany. Wine lovers have the possibility to see, and for a few moments take part in the harvesting of the grapes. They learn how to taste the berries to understand the true significance of the word “ripe”, differentiating between skin, pulp, and grape seeds. They understand the logics of the harvest calendar and share the grape growers’ passion and their worries if some black clouds are on the horizon and their joy if the forecasts promise good weather. Only at this time of the year is it possible to see the birth of great red Tuscan wines and it is possible to go home saying “a bottle of Brunello will be made with grapes I picked”

Every year from September 15th to October 20th Fattoria del Colle proposes at least two harvest weekends with a program filled with activities, tours (in the two wineries in Montalcino- Casato Prime Donne and in Trequanda – Fattoria del Colle), tastings, and themed dinners. Roughly 20 participants, overnight stays in the villas apartments and rooms of the small rural hamlet surrounding the estate that was built in 1592. An historic place where all lodgings maintains the imprint of the Tuscan tradition in its antique furniture, mixing with modern comfort.

The activities are guided by expert multilingual staff who teaches the secrets of Brunello, Chianti and Orcia Doc in a fun way. The harvest weekends are a different and captivating way to increase ones wine knowledge and to regenerate whilst in contact with nature.
