Fattoria del Colle has been producing rosé wines for over forty years but in 2024, for the first time, part of the grapes for this wine come from the Montalcino vineyards of Casato Prime Donne. A circumstance that gives greater structure to the Rosa di Tetto.

ROSA DI TETTO IGT TOSCANA

The choice to produce a more structured rosé stems from the international success of this type and the demand for rosés with greater personality and aging capacity. A change that coincided with a return to the origins, inspired by the “acquati” produced by Tuscan farmers since time immemorial. Those of a century ago were fragrant but poor-quality rosés obtained by stealing a part of the must at the beginning of fermentation or by refermenting the marc. They were therefore poor wines.

Today there is a precise desire to seek out wines of high quality and great elegance. The Rosa di Tetto 2024 belongs to this typology to which it combines great oenology with a touch of Tuscan tradition already evident in the onion skin colour. This characteristic derives from a prolonged contact between the skins and the must which transfers the typical notes of Sangiovese and a more intense colour to the wine.…

SANCHIMENTO 2024 A SUPERTUSCAN FROM ORGANIC AND TOURISTIC VINEYARDS

Sanchimento is obtained from organic grapes from the small vineyard around the chapel of the Fattoria del Colle dedicated to San Clemente or Chimento as the saint himself was called in medieval times. The wine therefore takes its name from the small sixteenth-century church. Both the chapel and the adjacent vineyard are open to tourists, in fact the vineyard of Traminer grapes used for the Sanchimento wine is the starting point for a trail in the vineyards that leads visitors to discover all the grape varieties grown at the Fattoria del Colle through the use of signs and QR codes.

THE PARTICULAR VINIFICATION FOR SANCHIMENTO

The cellar workers led by the oenologist Barbara Magnani have developed a very particular process for the Sanchimento IGT Toscana white. An unprecedented method that manages to enhance the characteristics of the grape variety, increase the complexity of the wine and its distinctive characteristics.

In the cellar, the Traminer grapes are cooled and divided. Most have a classic vinification process while about a quarter is vinified with the orange system (with the skins and without the addition of yeasts) in terracotta amphorae where the wine remains until bottling. This year, in addition to the two Impruneta jars, a clayver sphere was also used.…

PASSITO 2017 A SUPER EXCLUSIVE PRODUCTION

Passito is a passion for Carlo, husband to the producer Donatella Cinelli Colombini, who personally cares for it. The 2017 vintage got 94/100 from Robert Parker Wine Advocate who appreciated the honeyed and very elegant taste of this dessert wine. The grapes for the Passito and white Supertuscan Sanchimento are produced in the small BIO vineyard of Traminer variety at Fattoria del Colle.

SANCHIMENTO 2020 SUPERTUSCAN WHITE FROM A 5 STAR VINTAGE

Sanchimento Super Tuscan IGT bianco was born in the 2020 five-star harvest. Some of the grapes have been vinified by traditional method and part of them with orange- method which means in contact with grape skins and indigenous yeasts. Before bottling, the wine obtained with the two systems was combined to get a white with a golden colour and a complex and slightly mineral scent.…

A project that at Fattoria del Colle, begins with the Sangiovese grapes and its specificities such as the particular aroma of violets, that in the Rosa di Tetto, blends with that of apples and cherries.
The BIO (organic) vineyards are cultivated by hand with obsessive care; the grapes are picked by hand, vinified, and refined under the observant eyes of the three estate winemakers, Barbara, Sabrina and Giada. These give origin to some small series of “family wines” wines made on the estate. In this case it is a production of only 2.000 bottles, real jewels destined to wine loving clients.
At Fattoria del Colle the production of rosé began more than 30 years ago with the name “Aqua di Tetto”. When Donatella Cinelli Colombini received the farm form her father Fausto Cinelli in 1998, she decided to change it into Rosa di Tetto and to put on the label the flowers from the old climbing rose that covers the facade of the 16th century villa.

The 2019 harvest quality wise has been considered one of the best in the last 50 years. It was abundant and with grapes never seen before. For this reason it was decided to begin with this vintage a change of style for the Rosa di Tetto, aiming at a type of rosé that is more complex, important and structured and where the Sangiovese imprint is very evident.…

This Sanchimento is obtained with the first grapes picked by the “masked pickers” which means those wearing the anti-Covid masks!!

Everybody will remember the 2020 grape harvest at Fattoria del Colle for the difficulty in following the safety rules regardless of the heat, fatigue and not being able to breathe properly. But nobody was infected let’s hope it will be the only grape harvest under the Covid claws.

SANCHIMENTO A BIO SUPERTUSCAN

The Traminer grapes were handpicked; the clusters were cooled in an old IVECO refrigerated truck. It is an antique but we keep it to use just for the grape harvest.

After a first experimentation in 2019, the cellar master Barbara Magnani with the two junior wine makers Sabrina and Giada launched themselves into a very interesting chemistry between traditional vinification and orange wine.

Part of the grapes was in fact vinified with the skins and with autochthonous yeasts. The blend with the Sanchimento vinified traditionally took place before bottling. The result is a wine of great character and finesse, less aromatic than before but more complex on the nose. More agile, full and structured on the palate. A wine that is not ordinary that demonstrates courage in experimentation and interprets the natural characteristics of the Traminer grapes grown in Tuscany.…
