It resembles a game, but it actually teaches you to use your senses and your judgment. After a tour of the winery, you’ll blind taste four wines, including Brunello and Brunello Riserva, to guess their origin, age, and price. You’ll then repeat the tasting, accompanied by a platter of cured meats and cheeses.
The experience begins with a tour of the winery where Brunello is vinified and aged in barrels. Explanations of the wine and the history of Montalcino are provided, aided by painted panels and images projected in the vat room. The tasting takes place in the tasting room, which resembles Donatella Cinelli Colombini’s home.
Visitors will find four covered wines, which they will taste together, commenting on their impressions and evaluating their origin, age, and price on a special tasting sheet. They will also comment on their favourite wine, using a presentation similar to that of sommeliers in competitions. A playful way to learn to use your senses and your tasting skills, as well as to understand your own preferences.
At the end, the wines will be revealed, commented on, and tasted again, along with a platter of traditional cured meats, pecorino cheeses, and bruschetta with extra virgin olive oil. Afterward, without a guide, you can trek through the Brunello vineyards, where you’ll find art installations and dedications from the Casato Prime Donne award winners.
