Born in 1953 to a family of producers of Brunello di Montalcino, Donatella graduated in History of Medieval Art.
In 1993 she founded the “Movimento del turismo del vino” and invented “Cantine aperte”, the day that in a few years brought success to wine tourism in Italy. Currently she teaches wine tourism in the Master graduate programmes of three universities. After 14 years of professional experience in the family business in 1998 she founded her own estate that comprises Fattoria del Colle in Trequanda and Casato Prime Donne in Montalcino. In 2003 she won the Oscar for the best Italian producer awarded by AIS BIbenda and published the “Manuale del turismo del vino” followed in 2007 by “Marketing del turismo del vino”. From 2001 to 2011 she was the Tourism Councillor at the Siena Town Hall. Among her achievements is “Trekking urbano” a new kind of tourism sport, which was exported from Siena to the rest of Italy. IN 2012 she received the International Vinitaly Prize and the following year she was elected National Vice President of “Donne del Vino” and President of the Consortium of Orcia wines. In 2014 she was nominated ‘Cavaliere della Repubbica Italiana”.
Donatella Cinelli Colombini’s husband Carlo was born in Siena in 1951 and graduated in Economics in his hometown university with top marks. In 2010 he concluded his banking career in Florence at the Banca Nazionale del Lavoro where he had been in charge of training personnel for the Tuscany, Umbria, Marche and Abruzzo branches. He has a great passion for wines and is particularly keen on dessert wines and a great advocate of dessert wines and Vin Santo ‘Occhio di Pernice’ . He loves cooking and has created some of the restaurant recipes together with the chefs.
Violante, the younger generation of Cinelli Colombini was born in Montalcino in 1984 and graduated in Business and Economics at the University of Florence.
After her Masters at OIV (International Organization of Vines and Wine) that took her all around the most famous viticulture areas of the world she now works in the marketing sector of her mother Donatella Cinelli Colombini’s wines.
In 2008-2009 she was Tuscan president of the Leo (young Lions).
In June 2013 she was elected President of the Movimento Turimso del Vino Italiano, since 2016 she is Vice President AGIVI (Young Italian Vine and Wine entrepreneurs).
