EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL EXPERIENCE WITH PICNIC
For extra virgin olive oil enthusiasts who want to discover something new, for families, and for anyone who wants to spend a day in an organic countryside steeped in history.
The experience begins with a visit to the organic olive grove to understand the differences between cultivars, the pruning system, and how olive trees regenerate from their roots, which is why medieval trees still exist.
The next stop is the historic cellar, and after a few peeks at the barrel room, we enter the new oil cellar, an evocative space created inside two wine vats from the early 20th century. Here, you’ll find terracotta jars from the 18th and 19th centuries. Thanks to a skillful restoration by Donatella Cinelli Colombini, for the first time, the terracotta jars are once again storing Trequanda extra virgin olive oil. This is one of the world’s best areas for EVOO thanks to its calcareous soils, altitude, and excellent ventilation.
In the winery’s tasting room, visitors will find white placemats and five blue containers for tasting. The tasting includes extra virgin olive oil made from Moraiolo, Correggiolo, and mixed olives, extra virgin olive oil preserved in aterracotta jar, and industrial olive oil. Thanks to the guide’s explanations, aided by bread and apple slices, everyone can appreciate the unique characteristics of each sample and how to use it at the table.
Afterward, visitors receive a picnic container for a snack under the gazebos or in the grove next to the winery: the packed lunch includes bread, a small bowl of panzanella and a caprese salad, water, and a glass of wine.
