This piece of news comes from a survey carried out by the students of the Istituto Costa in Lecce.
The young inhabitants of the Salento peninsula sent 3.500 e-mails to people living abroad, chosen in a random way, in different nations around the world, asking them to list 20 Italian things – artists, food, works of art, places, etc. that they know and appreciate so much so as to desire having them in their own nation.
The resulting list is a mixture of things but able to underline how abroad Italy is

appreciated for what it exports, such as haute couture or great wines or for the charismatic protagonists of the past and present such as Giulio Cesare or Luciano Pavarotti.
In other words there are no politicians among the most appreciated things from our nation. But a good 11 wines among which are Chianti and Brunello di Montalcino!
