Bank holiday, April 25th with the Orcia Wine Festival 2017
At Fattoria del Colle three days -from 22nd to 25th April- dedicated to “old waters and new wines” in an intense and long weekend of wellness and fine wines
25th of April Bank holiday: join the activities of the Orcia Wine Festival in San Quirico d’Orcia (wine tastings, dinners, spa and massages, trekking, music videos….) to those proposed in the Casato Prime Donne winery in Montalcino and in Fattoria del Colle in Trequanda and you will have a spectacular program, something unrepeatable and full of emotions, suggestions, and with an unbeatable regenerating effect.

Fattoria del Colle is a small hamlet surrounding a villa and a chapel from the 16th century. An authentic location where most of the furniture, in the rooms and apartments is antique. Restaurant, wellness area,
parks, winery cookery school and trekking trails are a frame for the experiences dedicated to food , local cuisine (brief lessons and themed dinners), to the tastings organized so as to create sensations, such as the itinerant wine tasting, and the game, Playing winemaker where everyone produced the Supertuscan wine of their dreams.
I Montalcino, in the Casato Prime Donne there will be another surprise: a tour of the winery with a Wine and music itinerant tasting created by Igor Vazzaz the sommelier musician and in the new fermentation hall the showing of the video “The dove’s flight”. The programme of the wine tastings for the bank holiday included also a guided tasting of 5 vintages of Brunello, from the just born vintage 2016 to the great Riserva.
In theme with the title “Old waters and modern wines” the wellness area at Fattoria del Colle proposes a bath in the Jacuzzi with panoramic view, with a glass of wine, vinotherapy in the special juniper tub and massages that make the most of the rejuvenating virtues of grapes. To all of this one can add the appointments proposed by the Orcia Wine Festival. In the splendid Palazzo Chigi in San Quirico, the Orcia wineries will offer their wines to be tasted and for sale while some halls will be dedicated to wine wellness.
Guest of honour Kerin O’Keefe editor of the important American magazine Wine Enthusiast will hold master class regarding Orcia wines Saturday April 22nd in the afternoon. Palazzo Chigi, will also welcome the exhibition “Il Buon secolo della pittura senese”, a special occasion to appreciate Seventeenth century paintings after having sipped a glass of Orcia wine.
Along the common thread “Acque antiche e vini moderni” (Old waters and modern wines) the trekking trail from San Quirico to Bagno Vignoni with an appealing itinerary, a guide will helps you discover the charm of wineries and where to stop, till you reach the pool where Santa Caterina and
Lorenzo il Magnifico bathed. Right next to the pool is the store Toscana Lovers that sells the best handicraft.
On the same note are the films created by the students of the University of Siena – Scienze della Comunicazione, coordinated by Prof. Maurizio Masini. And most of all the gala dinner in the hall in palazzo Chigi and in about 50 wineries where everything is still done manually, it where their first market in the territory of origin, where very year more than 2 million high target demanding tourists and excursionists arrive from a very high target.
The Orcia wine region with Donatella Cinelli Colombini as President was born in 2000 in the high slopes between the production area of the Brunello di Montalcino and Nobile di Montepulciano wines, a region that is consequently a region suited for the production of fine red wines apt to be aged. This is a territory where in full summer, the night temperatures are low and this difference between night and day gives the wine a richness in aromas, elegance and longevity.
