Toscana Lions visit Chiusi, curiosities and considerations
Chiusi – February 18th 2012 – the Distretto Lions 108 la Toscana reunited around the Governor Michele Manzari and his “great dream” the Dynamo Camp

The call it “recreation therapy” and in the camping site in the Pennines dreamed of by the Governor is the first in Italy. It accepts children from 7 to 17years of age, with serious or chronic illnesses, or during their post op period. The children concentrate on their own abilities rather than on the limits imposed by the illnesses and find the courage necessary to follow the therapy. There are animators, sport and animals.
There is good news regarding the Dynamo Camp, on June 3rd the hospitality centre will be inaugurated and the collection of funds is continuing to cover the costs of the tents.
The dream is about to come true, as says the motto of the International President of Lions Clubs, Mr Wing Kun Tam: “I believe”!
The meeting was held in the Teatro Comunale Mascagni by the Lions Club Chiusi with their very active President Giannetto Marchettini. The atmosphere was very pleasant and relaxed regardless of the snow that for the past 20 days has dominated our landscapes and had caused the change of date of the meeting originally fixed for February 11th. The town hall was represented by the Tourism Councillor. She is clever, and very beautiful, just like a model, she is the only one that Governor stands for, living his flag.
Maria Raffaella Lambardi member of our Lions Club Montalcino la Fortezza,
and coordinator of the GLT delegates one of her collaborators to speak for her. As usual women make a good team. In her strategy there are 3 key words: KNOWLEDGE regarding Lions, COMUNICATION inside and outside the club regarding the goals and achievements and MOTIVATION, ethical motivation of own actions.
The young Leo’s also made a great impression. Guided by Diletta Duranti they are organizing a National congress in Florence and in the meantime they are working on the Lions Leo school in Burkina Faso where there are already 3 classes for 80 children each.
I set off with 30 boxes for collecting unused spectacles. These in chemists and schools where we will ask the kids to help us. You may well ask <<but what can you do with used glasses?>>. Mainly they are given to those who cannot afford to buy their own new ones, but they are also useful in cases of catastrophes such as the earthquake in Aquila, that took place at night where all left their home leaving their specs on the bedside tables. During the days after the earthquake the Protezione Civile asked Lions for some used spectacles and the Lions club supplied them.
