For Parker and Wine Enthusiast excellent Riserva 2013
Wine Enthusiast with 95/100 and Robert Parker with 94/100 reward Donatella Cinelli Colombini’s Brunello riserva 2013, and with 91/100 her Brunello vintage 2014
Donatella Cinelli Colombini’s Brunello 2013 Riserva flies high thanks to the 94 and 95 out of 100 from the two most important wine magazines in the world. Hence, a favourable beginning for the sales of the riserva that starts right now thanks to the preview events in Tuscany.
Most noteworthy is the rating of the Brunello 2014 judged by both Wine Advocate/Robert Parker and Wine Enthusiast with 91/100. A high rating for a wine of extraordinary pleasantness but not apt for a very long ageing, factor that usually has great weight in the International wine critic’s opinion. 2014 was a very rainy so the Brunellos from that year are at the moment more satisfying compared to other vintages where the structure (tannic and acidic) and has an effect of more powerful fullness in the mouth. The 2014 vintage has the elegance of a classical ballet dancer, fort eh reason that it offers pure pleasure, it is a carefree wine as described by Monica Larner, in other words a Brunello to be consumed and not stored.
BRUNELLO RISERVA ALL IN AGREEMENT:VERY VERY GOOD
Let us go back to the Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2013 indicating also the 97/100 from Bruno Petronilli in his jamesmagazine , and where he confesses to have been quite surprised by the quality of this wine, as he did not expect it to be so high << A very charming Brunello, right from the aroma, that seduced with a solemn elegance….. It flaunts youth, but also great maturity thanks to the velvety tannin and it’s never ending length. In every sip a series of emotions that evolve continuously>>
And finally here is the description by Monica Larner super taster for Robert Parker -Wine Advocate. As always her descriptions are to be framed because they let you taste in your mouth the wine as if you had a glass in front of you.
BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO RISERVA 2013 94 /100
. The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva (with only 6,500 bottles made) is a layered and structured wine that delivers a polar opposite experience especially when you compare this wine to the lighthearted annata 2014 Brunello. This riserva embodies power, grit and textural richness. It also delivers a robust and slightly evolved bouquet with dark fruit, spice and leather. In comparison, the wine from 2014 is thinner and more fruit forward. This wine is suited for grilled meats and steak. It’s a hearty winter wine for sure
BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO ANNATA 2014/100
The 2014 Brunello di Montalcino comes off as compact but ephemeral with lasting tones of wild berry, spice, licorice and smoke. There is a fragile or delicately nuanced side of the wine that suits it very nicely. The effect is soft, silky and graceful. Some Brunellos from this vintage come off tasting too thin and short, whereas others appear as easy, accessible and elegant. Donatella Cinelli Colombini’s latest release falls into the second category. Some 26,000 bottles were made.
