At Fattoria del Colle there is a cow in the cellar
In the cellar at Fattoria del Colle, other than the barrels containing Doc Orcia Cenerentola there are also several pieces of old farm equipment and even a Chianina cow
She was created in plastic by the architect Marco Pignattai as a prototype for the travertine one for the Brunello vineyards at Casato Prime Donne. The prototype was painted in a natural colour by Massimiliano Melchiorre and is now hanging next to an old farm carte. In the cellar at Fattoria del Colle there are two levels: downstairs the DOC Orcia “Cenerentola” and IGT “Il Drago e le 8 colombe” wine age in barrels. And upstairs in the loft tone finds testimonials from old winemaking times: de-stemmers, scales, crushers…… all used about one hundred years ago by the present owner Donatella Cinelli Colombini’s ancestors Present and past, one above the other. From the past comes also the Chianina cow, the candid giant who gave work and meat from the Roman era. The repositioning has been necessary because of the creations of the small cells to keep the older bottles of Drago and Cenerentola. Year after year, month after month the cellar at Fattoria del Colle becomes more and more charming, rich with history and great wines.
