Behind the scenes at a wedding in the Fattoria del Colle
Green and white – the colours of a perfect wedding for a young Belgian couple at the Fattoria del Colle, romantic, elegant, and individual, it matched their personal needs and was precise in every detail.
How many important elements are there to organise and decide upon to ensure the transformation of a marriage ceremony into an event that none of the participants will never forget.
An awful lot!!
It takes more than just a lot of money to create an unforgettable occasion, it takes imagination and good taste. Everyone knows how important the choice of wedding dresses, invitations, menus, venues, flowers and music are for the wedding ceremony. Putting these to one side, there are many other details which need impeccable organising to ensure a perfect wedding reception.
First of all, the choice of colours: in this case white and light green. Then the
use of unique objects and antiques, inspired by local tradition and the natural beauty of the surrounding area, which give a different atmosphere to the event. For example, the florist prepared the pillow for the wedding rings using a real nest and moss.
Now let’s think about where the ceremony will be held. The aisle down which the bridal party walk looks like an antique carpet made of wonderful warm earth toned colours which is covered with white rose petals and lined with white lanterns. The wedding guests will sit on the pale green chairs which all have decorative scalloped edges. The effect is
sophisticated and at the same time initmate and modern.
Just in case of rain, we were ready with umbrellas in matching colours which bore the names of the happy couple.
The rice cornucopias were created in very small green paper cone shaped containers printed with the names of the married couple. The aperitifs were enjoyed around the lovely swimming pool whilst listening to a jazz band playing relaxing music.
Everything was ready in the banqueting hall. The tables were set with elegant white satin tablecloths with lovely centerpieces inspired by a traditional minimalist theme. On each
table there was a blackboard with the phrase’ je t’ aime’ written in chald in several differebnt languages. Each crystal vase filled with white flowers was unique in its design and each vase was surrounded by small white candles. The napkin holders, which also contained the menu, were a light green colour. Even more imaginative was the solution for the place setting which included the name of the individual guest written on cards attached with twine to the back of the antique iron chairs.
After the dinner we had the toasts with the Brunello wine, the cutting of the cake, …. music, dancing and an open bar until two in the morning.
Then the couple went to spend their wedding night in the Granduca room where the King of Tuscany Pietro Leopoldo d’Asburgo and his lover Isabella had their romantic meetings. If this was not the perfect wedding it was not far from it!
