Fattoria del Colle in Trequanda - Courtyard
Go back in your mind, about 100 years ago, to when in Fattoria del Colle, in a corner of the Chianti area yet to be discovered, there was a festival in honour of San Clemente, patron saint of the estate chapel. The ovens were lit for baking the bread, chicken and cockerels were roasted, all the guests seated at the same table and there was always someone who played the accordion so others could dance, and then there were those who wished to play the games of Cacio or Panforte.
And now all starts again, like once ago, and Fattoria del Colle in Trequanda organizes these feasts once again.
The programme prepared by Donatella Cinelli Colombini wishes to offer her guests an experience of Tuscan culture so as to complete the experiences of tours of the cities of art, the appreciation of the landscapes and obviously of the Tuscan way of life. So the programme “Fattoria in festa” is born, in the park near the old olive mill, in the middle of Fattoria del Colle. To find the party it is sufficient to follow the singing and one finds the laid tables, the housewives with ladies in their hands so as to serve the “ciancifricola” and the “ zuppa trequandina”, just round the corner is the outdoor oven where baking trays of onions and potatoes are ready. The poorer version of grilled meats includes sausages, pork ribs and chicken, while a cart journeys among the tables offering pecorino cheese and hand sliced “prosciutto di cinta”. The lunch finishes with the real farmhouse tart, just baked. Poor dishes and rich wines from the wineries Fattoria del Colle in Trequanda and Casato Prime Donne in Montalcino: Brunello, Chianti and Doc Orcia (Leone Rosso and Cenerentola) award-winning wines appreciated by the international press.
The feast culminates with a dance, the “ballo del trescone”, the sienese country dance which is most popular, easy to learn and fun to dance.
The “Fattoria in festa” program will begin Sunday August 7th and will become a regular Sunday appointment at Fattoria del Colle in Trequanda. A proposal which approaches the new tourism trend of the 3g , three generations: grandparents find reminders of their past, their children find cultural references, and the grand children a fun way to learn. Donatella want to propose it also to those who want to find an unusual and fun way to celebrate with friends, or to groups visiting Italy who are looking for a way to understand the history of the most beautiful countryside in the world. Donatella Cinelli Colombini wishes to offer all an unforgettable experience of her land and its history. In this same spirit she has opened up to the public the historic halls at Fattoria del Colle with guided tours and has collected hundreds of antique objects from the farming tradition, now visible in the winery as if a decoration. This is modern Tuscany with a tradition heart and a modern mind
