THE 2020 BRUNELLOS DISPLAYED BY JAMES MAGAZINE
On the occasion of Benvenuto Brunello, he tasted the 2020 vintage defined by the special panel organized by the Consortium as <<Enticing, brilliant, succulent>> adjectives to which James Magazine adds the words <<versatile and suited for aging>>.
Seeing my Brunello among the favourites for the 2020 harvest is a pleasure and a satisfaction. The three 2020 Brunellos on display are Vigna Montosoli by Canalicchio di Sopra, Donatella Cinelli Colombini and Podernovi di San Polo by Marilisa Allegrini. They are followed by 12 other labels, most of which are selections or single vineyards. My Brunello is instead the classic typology, the one we consider to be more vertical in style, elegant and capable of expressing terroir, vintage and vine variety.
THE 2020 BRUNELLO , SON OF A FAVOURABLE VINTAGE
From a climatic point of view, 2020 was marked by a frost in mid-March and a rainy spring followed by a torrid July and scarce rainfall until a storm at the end of August. There were no extreme thermal stresses as in other vintages and years and the Sangiovese reached perfect ripeness with a particularly rich aromatic profile.

The occasion of this article gives us the opportunity to get to know Valente better. After a brilliant career in financial administration, he held the role of Chief Financial Officer for Italy of a well-known multinational luxury group. His passion for wine led him to deepen his knowledge until it became, since 2018, his main activity. Sommelier since 2005 and AIS taster and teacher, ONAF cheese taster, ANAG grappa and brandy taster and ADB professional beer taster. He has collaborated on the Vitae and Viniplus guides and is an editor in numerous wine magazines.
