WOODEN CRATE FOR 6 BOTTLES WITH 2 RECIPES
In the wooden crate with the Bottles of Brunello Riserva and Vin Santo you will find a special card with two recipes: Scottiglia, a typical meat dish from Montalcino and Ricciarelli, delicious Christmas cookies.
In the area where the Brunello is made, the Scottiglia is prepared with chicken or wild boar, but even with excellent lean pork it is possible to prepare a scrumptious Scottiglia.
The Ricciarelli macaroons are a medieval Sienese biscuit with an almond base, that according to legends, were brought to Tuscany by the crusaders.
Both recipes are easy to prepare and even Donatella, who is a great producer of fine wines, but an awful cook, is able to prepare them in an impeccable way.
BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO RISERVA 2012
5 star vintage, only 6.186 bottles made. This wine has obtained excellent ratings from the international press: Antonio Galloni Vinous 95/100, Robert Parker -Wine Advocate 93/100, Wine Spectator 92/100. The Brunello Riserva by Donatella Cinelli Colombini is produced with Sangiovese grapes from the Casato Prime Donne winery on the northern slope of Montalcino. It stays in the winery 6 years before being sold and it ages three years in 5-7 hl tonneaux and in 15-40 hl oak barrels.
BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO RISERVA 2013
This is a selection of 6.600 bottles produced in a 4 star vintage. Thanks to the very long vegetative cycle in 2013, the Brunello from this vintage results in being one of the most apt for long cellaring. The ratings from the international wine critics are excellent: Wine Enthusiast among the TOP 5 Brunello Riserva 95/100, Robert Parker-Wine Advocate 94/100, James Suckling 93/100.
VIN SANTO DEL CHIANTI 2008
A small selection of 1.000 bottles that Donatella Cinelli Colombini produces because her husband Carlo is a great estimator of sweet wines. She in fact does not even drink them and every time the ratings for the Vin Santo from the international wine critics are higher than those for the Brunello, there is a family crisis.
Vin Santo del Chianti is produced with dried grapes that remain in barrel for more than 10 years. It is the most important oldest sweet wine from Tuscany. Legend has it that during the Council of Florence in 1439 sumptuous banquets were organized where the Greek Cardinal Giovanni Bessarione also took part, tasting this wine e supposedly said: << Questo è il vino di Xantos!>> (this wine is the wine of Xantos) with reference to an island where particularly appreciated sweet wines were produced . From that day the vino Xantos, later called Vin Santo, is the name of this delicious Tuscan sweet wine.
