Fun guide to wines secrets

The book is called L’uva nel bicchiere (grapes in the glass) (Gribaudo pp. 72 ) and has been written by Teresa Severini Zaganelli the beautiful lady that all are acquainted with because for the past 30 years she has been taking care of the wines in her family’s winery, Lungarotti in Torgiano in Umbria. The book has just won the ” Gourmand Wine Books

Siena-Università-per-gli-Stranieri-Galletti-Severini-Vedovelli

Awards 2011 for Italy, for the category “wine illustrations and publications”.

Teresa will receive this award in Paris during the Book fair. At the Università per gli stranieri di Siena where the Rettore Massimo Vedovelli who has collaborated for years with the Enoteca Italiana, here represented by the President Claudio Galletti, regarding projects about wine divulging.

Teresa has an Italian degree in wine making and has followed a postgraduate course in the most prestigious win university in the world, in Bordeaux.

She consequently has a very solid background for what regards technique, but her book is not for experts, quite on the contrary she ignores them completely and she goes to look for a new, fresh public, she informs them , she makes them have fun and in the end she wins them over. She manages this because talks easy especially for the young with the aid of lively drawings.

In fact Teresa got the idea during a trip to a winery carried out by one of her 3 children’s junior school class. She found herself having to explain oenology to children using unusual explanations such as the wine preferred by secret service agent 007 or the aromas and tastes of food. Maybe those who like more technical, complicated, tortuous expressions might not appreciate the “Guida gaia ai segreti del vino” but Teresa is carrying out a very effective cultural operation.

For her wine is culture. e concept she has inherited from her mother Maria Grazia (who married Giorgio Lungarott after the death of her first husband who was also Teresa’s father) . Maria Grazia is also creator, in Torgiano , of the most important Wine museum in Italy .

The presentation of this wine is an occasion to reflect on events for the studying and teaching about wine. The rector Massimo Vedovelli refers to “Vino lingua” a project which involves Spanish and French universities together with the Università per gli Stranieri di Siena <<we have understood that wine labels do not inform and there are new job possibilities for those studying foreign languages together with wine.>>.This is very true and from here starts a new idea: to translate Teresa book into Chinese << I’m counting on doing this very soon>> she says, and knowing her nobody doubts that she will succeed.
