Trequanda is one of the Tuscan ceramic towns, and now it has a new archaeological museum with works of art and objects in ceramic from more than two thousand years ago.

The new Museo di Trequanda – which is the village where Fattoria del Colle is found – contains ceramic findings able to teach us a lot regarding art and the lifestyle of our ancestors, also tank to the didactical information panels in Italian and English positioned between the showcases.

This Giancarlo Pallavicini collection was bought a few years ago by the Trequanda municipality tank to a contribution from the Fondazione MPS and is now exhibited in two halls which have been excavated in the external perimeter of the Cacciaconti castle

 

Just like every other private collection this one too contains works of different provenance, especially from the south of Italy and of course follows the subject of interest of the collector. In this case there are many objects artistically decorated and connected to oil and wine. Aromatized oils which used to be spread of the bodies of the deceased, oils mixed with essences to make cosmetics or for personal hygiene. The terracotta containers for oil are a dear subject for Trequanda because connected to the productions of jars for oil in the hamlet of Petroio.

century in concomitance with the diffusion of the cultivation of olives. Today there are about ten small workshops, and there is a specific museum in Petroio.

Unfortunately the inauguration party for the Pallavicini collection was ruined by the bomb explosion in Brindisi which killed
Melissa the 16 year old student. The mourning made it important to have an austere ceremony which concluded with a moments silence and prayer.
