Regenerative tourism is a new trend that reflects the awareness of being in the privileged 10% of the world’s population that, however, produces half of the greenhouse gas emissions. Along with this sensitivity, the need to rediscover oneself by listening to one’s body grows. A need that generates the desire to take care of one’s physical and psychological well-being threatened by a growing sense of uncertainty and insecurity.

So the journey no longer includes just visits but experiences of what is natural, different and to be preserved. Regenerative tourism is not the cure for all the ailments of contemporary mankind but responds to his needs. It restores value to the territories and ecosystems where the journey takes place. Also it does not consume the territories it visits but helps their survival. It proposes a more minimalist and sustainable style in direct contact with nature and local life.

Fattoria del Colle, in Trequanda in Southern Tuscany, fully embodies this approach, offering experiences that enrich both visitors and the surrounding environment.

 

 

AUTHENTIC IMMERSION IN THE TERRITORY

Fattoria del Colle is a miraculously intact sixteenth-century hamlet, surrounded by 336 hectares of vineyards, olive groves, crops, woods and truffle reserves. Guests can stay in rooms, apartments and villas created from old peasant homes where the furniture is made of small local antiques and it feels like living in the house of your Tuscan grandparents. The farm also offers a traditional cuisine restaurant where everything is handmade. There is a cooking school, a natural wellness centre and outdoor activities such as 4 trekking routes, 3 swimming pools and 3 parks that allow for total immersion in nature.

 

ENHANCEMENT OF LOCAL CULTURE AND TRADITIONS

 

The Fattoria del Colle winery produces wines such as Chianti Superiore, Supertuscan and Doc Orcia. They are obtained from grapes from the organic vineyards of the farm. The guided tours have different styles depending on the interests of the visitors: the historical one enters the rooms of the Villa still inhabited by the owner and in the Chapel. There  is a more oenological one also includes a stop in the room that teaches how to listen to the vineyards. However the novelty for 2025 is the restoration of the ancient oil cellar with terracotta jars built over a century ago and the tasting of extra virgin olive oil from three cultivars

 

COMMITMENT TO ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

Fattoria del Colle adopts sustainable agricultural practices, such as the organic cultivation of vineyards and the installation of 20 kW photovoltaic panels for the production of renewable energy. These initiatives reduce environmental impact and promote an agricultural model that respects the ecosystem.

LOCAL COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Donatella Cinelli Colombini’s wineries at Fattoria del Colle and Casato Prime Donne in Montalcino are the first in Italy with an all-female staff and have played a role in women’s empowerment in rural areas. They also finance the Casato Prime Donne award for enhancing the role of women in society and at work but also talented young Tuscans who are examples for their peers.

 

PERSONALIZED WELLBEING EXPERIENCES

 

In addition to the possibility of seeing the agricultural and cultural activities, Fattoria del Colle offers natural wellness services such as massages with local oil and essences, a couple’s bath in wine called “vinotherapy”, local cooking lessons held by housewives or expert gastronomes. These experiences contribute to the relaxation and physical and mental regeneration of guests, in line with the principles of regenerative tourism. Furthermore, on the farm there are 4 paths marked by signs that explain the plants, animals and vineyard, transforming the trail into a cultural experience. In the Fantabosco forest, 6 themed trees invite reflection – on sounds, fear, balance, vanity … – like in a children’s game.

In short, Fattoria del Colle represents a virtuous example of regenerative tourism, where hospitality is intertwined with sustainability, culture and well-being, offering visitors an authentic and transformative experience.
