The Governatore Manzari: – I like this Lions Club!

The Lions Club Montalcino La Fortezza has chosen a place with 800 years of history and surrounded by Brunello vineyards to welcome the Governatore Michele Manzari

 

Pieve di San Sigismondo: An April the first without April fools and with no fish, everything went very smoothly according to plan. A day that started quite early with a board meeting to discuss new members. At 11 am, on the dot, the Governatore del Distretto Lions 108 Michele Manzari .His wife Rita and other guests continued their journey toward the nearby Castello di Poggio alle Mura – Banfi where they visited the Museo del vetro da vino, (glass used for wine museum) while the 26 members of the Lions Club Montalcino La Fortezza showed the Governatore what they have succeeded in doing. Many small initiatives by generous people, united and industrious. Everybody has given a hand: there are those who have coke, those who have taught immigrants, who has offered a home, those who have taught to cook, those who have organized balls, or excursions…. A programme which has united the members making them feel useful and happy to live experiences together Lots of work which has eremite us to collect funds for the Dynamo Camp and for a local service which will be put into act during the next few months, and will be a continuation of the Premio Losappio.

So an atmosphere apt for a spring party, where the Governatore was nice and

relaxed and all the members happy to see their work appreciated.

This was also the spirit for the after dinner speeches. Michele Manzari gave the dates of future appointments: 22 April in Florence for the Lions Day in Piazza della Repubblica and on June 3rd at the Dynamo Camp for the launching of new structures funded by Lions. Next summer the Dynamo Camp will be waiting for 800 children affected by serious illnesses and will give all the possibility to smile and be serene. The Exchange of gift was a pleasant surprise. The Governatore gave the president Donatella Cinelli Colombini a bas-relief in majolica by the sculptor Michele Fabbricatore and she gave the Manzari couple T Shirts with the design created by Salvatore Ferragamo for the Brunello 2011 vintage. T Shirts made especially to collect funds for the Misericordia di Montalcino.

Another pleasant surprise was the commemorative medal created by the sculptor Vivarelli given to Raffaella Lambardi. This is an important sign of esteem from the Governatore for a Montalcino Lions member , who acts as his officer and who he, in the future, would like to see take his place. With this hope the spring reunion concluded, a day that the members of the Lions Club di Montalcino La Fortezza will remember for a long time.
