Vinitaly 2014 novelties, B2B, Hacker wine, bio and Chinese
A lot more going on “our of the fair” and more business for the 2014 edition of Vinitaly where the organizers are going to get many more foreign importers to come
Seen for you by Donatella Cinelli Colombini
We are guests in a villa in Veneto, belonging to the Bertani family, where Foscolo wrote the “Dei Sepolcri”; there is a cellar dating back to 1098 and the frescoes are from the 18th century by Pesci from Bologna. A fairytale frame for 40 producers who have come from all over Italy to hear, for first, the novelties regarding next Vinitaly. And there are lots of them!
First the good news : <<no more wet shoes, the pavilions will be connected with covered passageways, 2000 more parking spaces in the vicinity of the “unloading area”,120 more toilets. There will be a B2B (upon booking and with a fee) with programmed meetings among wineries and buyers, many more foreign operators and many more foreign journalists, especially form China. There will be an area for biological wines with an area for organic wines with stands in other pavilions and three will be an area dedicated to foreign wineries>> said Giovanni Mantovani General Manager of VeronaFiere.
The wineries looking for importers will be able to continue their business online with Vinitaly International Importer Connect a database with 15.000
operators which helps wineries connect with partners abroad interested in their type of wines. Finally!
Obviously the producers ask for more but these novelties are many and encouraging
A staff of 6 italo-foreign youngsters will help Stevie Kim, the volcanic marketing lady from Vinitaly International, in the new events: commercial missions in USA, China, Russia, massif introduction of the web for communicating and doing business. The last novelty regards the <<Masterclass guided by Ian D’Agata which will have their debut in New York at the beginning of February>> said Gianni Bruno, an event this, that respects perfectly the great success of wine education in USA.
But the real revolution is the “Hacker wine” a sort of creative marathon which will take place on March 1st-2nd. The protagonists will be a group of youngsters chosen according to their talent; they will work for 24 hours without ever sleeping to invent innovative solutions dedicated to 5 pilot wineries. A technique which has given great results in fashion and in technology, something really a step ahead of times.
Another great thing is the birth of “Wine2wine”in November, a forum which lasts a day and a half (like in Cernobbio) where the wine world will Exchange experiences, opinions, and will address requests tot the politicians.
So Vinitaly is looking ahead in a really innovative way and more importantly all year long continues to offer meetings online with imports, sales missions abroad, guided tastings with great experts and meeting….. practically all year long.
