As all pet lovers know cats and dogs cannot drink alcohol, if they do there are great risks for their health. However they adore biscuits, snack etc that pet shops sell in small extremely expensive packets. So, I making the most of the fact that pet owners go mad and buy whatever is liked by their pests the American company Apollo Peak has created a section called Pet Beverage with white , red and sparkling wines. The products have fun names such as mosCato charDOGnay …and include also special tasting glasses for our four legged friends.
What is most incredible is the success, products that someone like me dog lover and wine producer, would never ever buy. This is what their message more or less says: you come home tired and you want a cuddle and glass of wine, why not share this pleasure with your cat? Ok, only that the so called wine for cats and dogs made with fruit juices and organic aromatic herbs (among which cat grass), contained in an 8 oz bottle, costs around 10 dollars. Sometimes more than the wine in the owner’s glass. Obviously in Asia, the rich pet friends, have their own distribution of wine for dogs and cats produced by B&H. In this case too it is grape juice, vitamins and cat grass and the price is more reasonable: 4 dollars per bottle. Among the other products for animals by B&H there are also Wan-Wan Sparkling Wine, the beer Wan-Wan Beer, the energy drink called Wan-Wan and the Wan-Wan English Tea. It is a varied selection that for those who practically have a symbiotic rapport with their pet, to share, without risks, their favourite drink.
And that is not all. There is a beer for dogs presented by the website vat19.com that has a definite pork meat taste and costs 4,99$. In the video the gestures and even the tankard where it is served are the classical ones as in normal adverts.
All of these products make us think of people who feel very lonely who have a morbid rapport with animals and who humanize them so far as to want to share their drinks with them. I, who do spoil my dog with titbits so it is difficult for him to be of an ideal weight, find however very sad that producers of animal food make the most, and in fact stimulate behaviours that worsens loneliness in the owners of animals instead of pushing them through their pets toward socialization . We all remember the film “101 Dalmatians” where Pongo and Peggy help their owners meet!!!
