The Brunello mission began at Eataly the shop for excellent food and wine from Italy in the heart of Manhattan

I was there with the director of the Consorzio Stefano Campatelli and his assistant Stefania to fix the details for the event regarding Brunello. Next September for the whole month, the
producers of Brunello will be involved in tastings, meetings with the public, and guided tastings one after the other. In other words a great opportunity for sales and visibility which are planning in the smallest detail.
The meeting with the very nice manager Dino Borri gave us the opportunity to understand better the Eataly phenomenon which has once again set Italy top of the list for excellent food and wine productions. The numbers regarding this success are amazing: 100.000 visitors per week, 3rd destination in NY, 70 million income per year and 650 employees.
The shop is enormous with stalls for shopping, and restaurants, but the most surprising thing are the workshops for production: the clients can see mozzarella being made, as well as bread, beer, fresh pasta…and they can eat everything straight away. On the roof there is a pizzeria in an enormous hall with a crystal covering which opens up. Something out of this world! The Eataly project is by Oscar Farinetti who in 2007 decided to create in Turin the first place with excellent food and wine with reasonable prices for all. After the first shop others were born in various nations around the world, 6 of which are in Japan. On April 21st one will be opened in Rome and it will be largest in Italy.
On our way out we met Joseph Bastianich the most brilliant tv star among the Italian restaurateurs in America. I have known for at least thirty years, when he had just graduated. His mother Lidia is a partner of Eataly and this has surely contributed to the very rapid ascension to fame of the shop. After the meeting we were proud to be Italian and we are looking forward to organizing in the temple for tastes an explosive event which will give new opportunities and visibility to our Brunello.
