The cypress trees at Fattoria del Colle
We have cut down a cypress tree who was ill with “cancer” the illness which after the second world war killed many trees. It is a contagious illness so it is very important to remove the plants before the fungus attacks other trees which are close by

The two dead cypresses were along the road that from the villa goes to the “fantabosco”, the pine wood with trees with a theme which is greatly loved by children. After having felled the cypresses we counted the rings around the trunk: 130. These were so old! We had had no idea. And the aroma, intriguing and musky, just like exotic spices!
At Fattoria del Colle we have cypress trees which are even older, such as the one next to the San Clemente crape. In Toscany, the presence of century old trees is a something which makes the landscape quite unique. Those spending their holidays in agriturismo know this and appreciate is.
