A great harvest, 2020 will be remembered for the masks and the COVID. This vintage has given us a Leone Rosso Doc Orcia BIO rich in aromas, structure and pleasantness

Vendemmia-2020-mosto-Fattoria-del-Colle-Toscana
The Leone Rosso wine is dedicated to the ancestors of Donatella Cinelli Colombini who built Fattoria del Colle in 1592 and had a rampant lion on their coat of arms. The grapes for the Leone Rosso Doc Orcia are born right in the vineyards of the farm.
We are talking about the Socini or Sozzini family made up of jurists and philosophers. Two of them – Lelio (1525-1562) and Fausto (1539-1604) – have gone down in history for having held an important role among the European free thinkers who gave birth to Protestantism. It was precisely their opposition to the Church that led the family to ruin and the Colle farm to be confiscated. The property was repurchased by Donatella’s great-grandfather, the engineer Livio Socini around 1919.
Brunello Prime Donne 2018 by Donatella Cinelli Colombini in the Wine Spectator Insider, the showcase that presents previews of the best wines

Wine spectator Insider 94/100 Brunello 2018 Prime Donne
By Donatella Cinelli Colombini
The Insider arrives online to subscribers of the leading wine magazine, the Wine Spectator, published in New York and available worldwide. It contains, in preview, a small number of excellent and exemplary reviews. Being in the insider is an extremely important opportunity because wine lovers all over the world open it and look at it more carefully than they do the large lists of reviews that appear every month in the magazine.
A few days before Vinitaly the Brunello di Montalcino selection Prime Donne 2018 was in the Insider with a score of 94/100 and a beautiful description written by Bruce Sanderson Senior Editor and Tasting Director of the Wine Spectator and great expert of Tuscan wine and specifically of the Montalcino territory.
Bruce Sanderson’s presentation of the 2018 vintage is masterful << Following the robust 2017s from Montalcino, with their dark fruit flavours and dense tannins, the 2018 releases of Brunello di Montalcino are a breath of fresh air. These new wines exude red fruit flavours like strawberry, cherry and currant, with plenty of floral notes such as rose hip and hibiscus>>.
According to Sanderson, 2018 is a decidedly classic vintage that recalls the best of the late twentieth century. I think the same and I find it beautiful how the US critic thinks of wine as an interpretation of nature that changes every year and which every producer reads with his own sensitivity. It makes one think of the work of the conductor who respects the composer’s score but adds his own interpretation to it and therefore updates it.
On the day of the Resurrection, I would like to read with you some phrases by Gandhi, sentences that perhaps will help us to deserve the salvation won for us by Jesus

Montalcino Sant’Antimo
<<Take a smile, give it to those who have never had it.
Take a ray of sunshine, make it fly where the night reigns.
Discover a spring, let those who live in the mud get wet.
Take a tear, pass it on the face of someone who has never cried.
Take courage put it in the soul of those who can’t fight.
Discover life, tell it to those who don’t know how to understand it.
Take hope and live in its light.
It depends on the wine and on the way in which the bottle is treated, sucking out the air or by introducing an inert gas. The great red wines better than the whites

quanto dura una bottiglia aperta? Fattoria del Colle Doc Orcia Cenerentola
By Donatella Cinelli Colombini
Nowadays no one consumes a bottle in a single meal. In compliance with health standards (half a bottle a day in two meals for men and even less for women) it is difficult for even two to finish the bottle before getting up from the table. For this it is necessary to keep the wine in an optimal way until the next time of consumption. But how long can it be kept?
To answer this question, I follow the trail of wein.plus inviting the most passionate wine lovers to read the entire article that I summarize here. There are components in wine that make it durable: extracts, alcohol and acids. The extracts are the noble parts of the wine skin which dissolve during fermentation and pass into the wine. Obviously their presence in the wine varies according to the grape variety and the terroir, but there is a direct correlation between ripening, the calibre of the grapes and the climate. If the grapes are perfectly ripe, the rains have not increased the size of the grape berries and there have not been strong perturbations which, causing temperatures to drop, have stiffened the skins … then we will have musts and wines rich in colour and extracts. Once upon a time this rarely happened today it is almost normal, at least here in Montalcino and in the Doc Orcia areas.
For club members, a wine suitable for aperitifs, for lunches based on tasty Tuscan dishes but also for a pizza with mushrooms, or between meals with Tuscan pecorino and semi-seasoned fontina cheese.

Montalcino cantina Casato Prime Donne Rosso di Montalcino 2021
Donatella Cinelli Colombini presents you the Rosso di Montalcino 2021 born in an amazing year and which is also appreciated by young Wine Lovers for its drinkability and pleasant and understandable style. A growing market demand has led to the creation of an event that highlights it: “RED Montalcino” which will be held every year in June. An event that aims to give a distinctive personality to a wine that until a few years ago was considered a “second choice”. In reality, the new consumer trends favour wines with more of a local, vine and vintage imprint, that is, elements that are less easy to find in denominations that have spent more than two years in barrels and aim for majestic longevity.
Casato Prime Donne is a 40-hectare property on the north side of Montalcino. It belonged to the ancestors of the current owner Donatella Cinelli Colombini, already at the end of the sixteenth century. It was once used for hunting and for honeymoons, today it is dedicated to wine and is made up of 17 hectares of vineyards, all Sangiovese variety. At the centre is the cellar which is the first in Italy with a staff of only women. Even the Rosso di Montalcino label emphasizes the family nature of this property with the three doves symbolizing Donatella, her husband Carlo and their daughter Violante.
A fine wine is like a work of art whose value increases when its path can be traced from the execution onwards. Here is the Brunello with pedigree

Brunello 2013 2015 2016 IOsonoDonatella
Donatella Cinelli Colombini, art historian winemaker, wanted her most exclusive wine to be like an author’s painting and has prepared a certificate in which to note every change of hand of the bottle after leaving the cellar. A document that tells the story of wine after the stage of production and also places the right emphasis on who owns it because, it is well known, how the presence of “excellent names” increases its value.
The first bottle with a “pedigree“, therefore with the “family tree” of the owners, is a Brunello di Montalcino 2016 IOsonoDonatella.
It is a very small numbered series of only 180 copies. It begins its marketing in February 2023 inside a luxury box which also contains the 2013 and 2015 vintages of the same wine. Together they form a vertical destined for great wine lovers and collectors. The presence of the certificate on the IOsonoDonatella 2016 is the last touch that increases its prestige.
Donatella Cinelli Colombini rejoices for the excellent 94/100 and 94/100 ratings for her Brunello 2018 from Canada and for the Cenerentola Doc Orcia 91/100 from Austria

Cenerentola 2018 Doc Orcia FALSTAFF TROPHY
When a wine producer sees his work rewarded by the judgment of great experts and the market, it is always a great joy and Donatella has many of these moments. Here you will find the description of her Brunellos by two super Canadian journalists. They tasted Brunello 2018 as a preview in November at the event organized by the Consortium. The ratings are excellent, 94/100 and 94/100, and the descriptions are wonderful.
Below follows the presentation of the Brunello Riserva 2016 by the LCBO, the very powerful Ontario monopoly based in Toronto.
And finally, the 91 points for Cenerentola Doc Orcia 2018 from Falstaff which, with its 144,000 copies, is the largest German-language food and wine magazine.
It is a long-awaited harvest for the cellars on the northern part of Montalcino because after some formidable vintages this one that stands out for its grace . The reality is just exactly that, warmth and exceptional liquidity. Everything works and works wonderfully. A multifaceted expressiveness, perfumes, concentration, integration and if there is wood (and there is some) you do not notice it. Everything plays and works authentically, with kindness and honesty. Clarity is above average. Incredibly fine tannins. To drink from 2024 to 2032
7-10th April 2023 Easter mini break with nature, masterpieces of art, traditions and great wines in Tuscany to regenerate and enrich with new knowledge

Pasqua panina di Pasqua, con uovo benedetto
Donatella Cinelli Colombini’s county inn is different from all the others and offers unique experiences. You’ll wonder what makes it so special. Great red wines with international recognition are born there, it has 430 years of noble history behind it and allows tourists to live inside this history, to eat it, to smell it, to touch it …. All of this with the frame of panoramas that have remained intact over the centuries and of an ORGANIC BIO nature in which to walk among olive groves, vineyards and woods.
For this reason, spending the long Easter weekend at Fattoria del Colle regenerates the body and mind even if perhaps it leads to a few interruptions in the diet and a few more during the tastings of Brunello. But if you are a wine lover, do not miss the opportunity because a tasting of 6 wines from the barrel and of 5-star Brunellos does not happen easily.

Vasca vinoterapia e sala per il massaggio di coppia Fattoria del Colle Toscana
A proposal reserved for members: 3 bottles of IOsonoDONATELLA 2013, 2015 and 2016, the latter produced in only 180 specimens with a certificate of origin

Brunello IOsonoDONATELLA 2016 with certificate of authenticity
For the first time, Donatella Cinelli Colombini’s wineries have prepared a special certificate on which to note every change of hand of the bottle after it leaves the cellar of origin. It is a document that follows the wine and tells its story. Evidently the presence of “excellent names” increases its value!!
This time it really is a very small numbered series of only 180 specimens, a true masterpiece, inside a casket that also contains the 2013 and 2015 vintages of the same wine.
This box contains a super-premium vertical destined for those who want what is very difficult to find, for great wine lovers and collectors. A sort of wine “trilogy” also suitable as a unique and special gift. The certificate with IOsonoDONATELLA 2016 is the last touch that really increases its prestige. So our club members will be able to purchase this exclusive set before anyone else until March 3, 2023!

Verticale IOsonoDonatella in luxury box con Certificato autenticità
This exceptional selection was bottled for the first time in 2010 when Donatella understood that she had realized her dream of producing a great international-level red wine. Donatella Cinelli Colombini comes from a historic family of Brunello producers and, since 1998, has had her own company, which bears her name. After the 2010 harvest, the selection was bottled in the 2012, 2013 and 2015 vintages.
The bottle chosen for this wine speaks of Donatella Cinelli Colombini. There are precise references to her past as an art historian and expert in medieval goldsmithing. For this reason, the glass of the IOsonoDonatella bottle is decorated with glitter that forms a ring with Donatella’s logo in gold in the centre, like a Gothic seal
Among the techniques to limit the consumption of alcohol, dry January has made inroads above all in the generation Z but is spreading everywhere

Dry January, a month without alcohol
by Donatella Cinelli Colombini
This trend is a kind of early Lent but with the same regenerating purpose after a period of abuse such as that of the Christmas and New Year holidays. It consists in avoiding all sorts of alcohol throughout the month of January
My friends from London city have told me that Dry January is very popular in the world of finance. In the United Kingdom, in fact, since 2013 Alcohol Change UK has been conducting major campaigns to promote it and helps participants with a coaching action through a free app. Inside there are not only tips but also the calculation of calories and money saved during the month without alcohol.
The Morning Consult survey conducted January 4-5, 2021 with 2,200 US adults found that 13% of American respondents were participating in Dry January.
Tourism in wineries 2023: increasingly technological contacts and increasingly territorial experiences that are starting to be segmented by price and target for winery tours

experiences-in-the-winery-tuscany-create-your-own-wine-Fattoria-del-Colle
The 2023 winery tourism proposals are coming, the result of a rapidly evolving wine tourism scenario.
Nothing is like before covid, not even tourists. At least 4 types of visitors arrive in Italian wineries: the classic wine tourists, therefore the true enthusiasts of the nectar of Bacchus, the majority group who seek recreation in unspoilt nature, the high-spending guests, especially from abroad, who ask for exclusive moments and finally the Taliban of “wines without hands”, ultra-famous or with other extreme characteristics.
Another new element is the overtaking of wine experiences: the winery that manages to promote a truly exceptional wine tourism proposal well wins over the prestige of the wine.Indeed it enhances it enormously. For this reason the number, size and spectacularizing of the new tourist wineries is growing enormously with Hollywood effects and often far from the local culture.
However, the small, true and different still wins so, even if it seems a paradox, the “old-fashioned” cellars have more appeal than in the past.
Donatella Cinelli Colombini together with Divinea introduces CRM in wine tourism and presents her 4 new Brunello wine tours

tourism-in-the-winery-Montalcino-Casato-Prime-Donne-Brunello
Donatella Cinelli Colombini inaugurates the collaboration with Divinea – WineSuite with 8 wine experiences designed for the new tourist – explorer in search of unique, engaging, authentic moments, that are respectful of nature and local traditions. Strengthened by her profound knowledge of the wine tourism phenomenon, proven by the 5 manuals she has written, Donatella has decided to proceed in two directions: ultra-traditionalism in the experiences of tourists and a lot of innovation in contacts.
Hence the wine hospitality in the wineries Casato Prime Donne in Montalcino and Fattoria del Colle in Trequanda will use a CRM system to manage contacts.
For Italian wine tourism it is something new and capable of transforming cellar visitors into customers who continue to buy bottles, even after returning home, through the wine club and proprietary e-commerce.
