The traditional August appointment with great wine, this year is specifically dedicated to wine lovers with dogs.

At Casato Prime Donne di Montalcino, a winery celebrated for the excellence of its bottles but also for being the first in Italy with a staff of only women, the tourist’s welcoming is different from any other.

There are two Calici di Stelle appointments, always on Saturday. They will be on  the 5^th  and 12th August starting at 4.30 pm on the theme “Wine and Music with 4-legged friends”

WINE AND MUSIC IN THE BRUNELLO VINEYARDS WITH 4-LEGGED FRIENDS

The program lasts a couple of hours and includes an itinerant tasting of 4 wines paired with 4 pieces of music specially selected by Igor Vazzaz, musician and sommelier. Welcoming also for dogs with bowl and kibble.

Exceptionally, the 4 wines – Chianti Superiore, Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino and Vin Santo – will be accompanied by small pairings with typical foods such as dried sausage, pecorino cheese and Sienese dry biscuits.

<<In 2022 wine consumption in the USA decreased but consumers have grown significantly>> a statement that starts from IWSR data and refers to a consumer audience that grew by 14 million in 2022 alone against a drop in 2% of consumption. Numbers that require further study and, with the help of Emanuele Fiorio, on Wine Meridian, reveal some really interesting backgrounds.

YOUNG U.S. CONSUMERS DRINK LESS BUT BETTER

The US wine market is 45% made up of young people. Even if, for now, they are in the minority, they are the future. Furthermore, these wine lovers should also be kept an eye on for another reason: very often, they anticipate global trends. This is as true in music as it is in clothing and, as far as wine is concerned, they have two mottos in mind: moderation and premiumisation. That is, drink less but better. Concepts that are connected to the growth in the consumption of no alcohol or low alcohol drinks but also to an overall health trend. The reduction in volumes makes it possible to focus on premium or prestige bottles which in fact have had good and excellent commercial performance.

Donatella Cinelli Colombini Sangiovese Tuscany

Fattoria del Colle has a long tradition of rosé wine. In the twentieth century it was called “Acqua di Tetto” but, Donatella Cinelli Colombini, taking over the management of the estate, in 1998 decided to abandon this name because it <<suggested a watered-down red>>.

She was inspired by two climbing roses which, for centuries, have grown by clinging to the facade of the villa and the farm chapel. These are the flowers visible on the label.

ROSA DI TETTO – NEW NAME AND NEW STYLE FOR THE FATTORIA DEL COLLE ROSÉ

The change of name also marked a stylistic change of this rosé towards a more refined, structured and long-lived type. Wine to drink throughout the meal where the imprint of Sangiovese was more marked.

The international success of rosé wines has brought with it the demand for wines richer in finesse, personality, with a greater imprint of the terroir of origin and of the grape variety.

In Donatella Cinelli Colombini’s winery, the first in Italy with an entirely female staff, a long process took place to give a greater personality to the rosé. Recently, this research has been particularly difficult due to two harvests with very few grapes and therefore with very little rosé wine. It was the excellent quality of the grapes that made the difference and now the winemakers Barbara Magnani, Sabrina Buzzolan and Giada Sani, after waiting two years, are pleased to offer you a very small series of 1,333 bottles of IGT Toscana Rosa di Tetto.

A great harvest, 2020 will be remembered for the masks and the COVID. This vintage has given us a Leone Rosso Doc Orcia BIO rich in aromas, structure and pleasantness

A RED LION SYMBOL OF THE ANCESTORS WHO FOUNDED THE FARM IN 1592

The Leone Rosso wine is dedicated to the ancestors of Donatella Cinelli Colombini who built Fattoria del Colle in 1592 and had a rampant lion on their coat of arms. The grapes for the Leone Rosso Doc Orcia are born right in the vineyards of the farm.

We are talking about the Socini or Sozzini family made up of jurists and philosophers. Two of them – Lelio (1525-1562) and Fausto (1539-1604) – have gone down in history for having held an important role among the European free thinkers who gave birth to Protestantism. It was precisely their opposition to the Church that led the family to ruin and the Colle farm to be confiscated. The property was repurchased by Donatella’s great-grandfather, the engineer Livio Socini around 1919.
