The vines, notoriously intelligent plants, are asking themselves if we are not transforming them in camels. First the vintages 2012 and 2013 that were as dry as a desert, and now a 2014 which, until July, resembled the beginning of the Great Flood. Finally in August the sun arrived, only two storms during the whole month. According to statistics 1,5°C more than the last decade of the 20th century and minus2°C with respect to the average temperatures from the year 2000 onwards. The nights are cool and during the day temperatures range between 28-33°C. Ideal temperatures for the aroma synthesis. The first grape analysis posted by the Consorzio del Brunello regarding clusters picked on August 26th are very positive: the “technological” ripening so the forming of sugar, is still far away, but the evolution of the noble substances in the skins – poliphenols– is ahead.

This is practically a full immersion in wine! Donatella Cinelli Colombini has asked her new chef at Fattoria del Colle, Roberta Archetti, to create dishes in perfect harmony with three DOCG wines so as to offer guests a new an interesting experience in her winery.

Harmonious tastes in a harmonious ambiance with new very Tuscan furnishings and a panorama which resembles a nativity scene with the vineyards at a stones through and the hamlet of Trequanda just in the background.

Chef Roberta Archetti comes from Brescia, and has chosen Tuscany and cooking as the pillars of her life, in her curriculum an excellent point comes from the period spent at the Dal Pescatore in Canneto sull’ Oglio  with the myth Nadia Santini.

No worries nothing macabre, ossi di morto (dead man’s bones) are just delicious biscuits made with egg whites and almonds, traditionally from Montalcino and our patisseur Patrizia will teach you how to make them.

There is so much to see and taste because Fattoria del Colle will organize for its guests an extraordinary wine tasting with 8 Brunello: from 1995 super vintage rated 5 stars up until the last born the 2008 and then the tasting of the 2012 that is still in the barrels, this too a 5 star harvest. A barrique’s life is quite short: when it is new it is used for great wines, when it has been used for the third time, so in its third year, it used for the less prestigious wines but when it begins to give the wine a bitter finish, the wine makers see it as a danger, to be removed from the cellar as soon as possible.
It is possible to regenerate it through a scratching and toasting, procedure which in Italy only a few companies know how to do (like our Facebook friend Romiti Pietro). In most cases the barriques end up at the carpenters.
The price is good, between 30 – 50€ for roughly 50 kg of wonderful oak wood but the curving makes the barrel staves not easy to use.

No worries, it’s easier than it seems. First of all wine glasses are goblets so they have a stem and a cup. This permits one to hold them by the stem without dirtying the cup with your fingers. Better not to touch the cup unless the liquid is so cold that it requires “body warming”. To avoid that the cup gets opaque do not wash long after use, don’t leave wine in them all night and be careful how you put them in the dishwasher.
The glass must be perfectly transparent, not coloured, not incised, not engraved but nice and smooth.

The glass must be nice and thin so crystal is to be preferred or new materials of new technology which unite thinness with robustness. The true inconvenience in crystal is, in fact, other than the cost, the fragility, which with the innovative materials is undoubtedly lessen especially in the stem.

A really special wedding, ideal for those who choose the Tuscan countryside because of its special touch in uniqueness and charm which comes from the wine’s magic.
The Fattoria del Colle winery has a large hall covered by brick vaulted ceiling, along the walls are situated the small barrels where the Orcia Doc Cenerentola wine ages. This is the location where to organize the ceremony with the altar and the chairs for the wedding couple covered in white satin. It is not a Church (by the way the estate has a delightful chapel that can welcome up to 40 guests) but the effect is all the same solemn , even though quite unusual.
Next to the barrel ageing area, where there are still visible traces of the original medieval walls, is where the aperitif is served. This is a suggestive area which gives the buffet a particular Tuscan imprint. In other words it is not an anonymous frame for the wedding of a couple who has chosen Tuscany to celebrate their love.

Among the Brunello vineyards, three Montalcino artists propose a work of art that resembles a game but instead helps us to consider the concepts of vision and gender. A pile of rubble with some metal wheel-barrows positioned on top, but these wheelbarrows positioned upside down are now seats and the position is particularly apt to admire the beautiful countryside all around. Is this an invitation for guests? Of course it is !

The wheelbarrows have been painted with the images of women. Echoes of Léger, Picasso, Modigliani, Gauguin, Frida Khalo, Matisse and only one by the poetic Carlotta Parisi … is this a game too? Evidently it is. A situation half way between the daily work routine and a dream, with its revelation transformations of reality which is more than real. This is the work of art by Carlotta, Giuditta and Annibale Parisi, it is a consideration on the concept of vision: reality which changes according to the point of viewing, objects which transform thanks to imagination, women how are seen in a different way with the passing of time, and they have a vision of the world dictated “by gender”.
“Punti di vista”-“Points of view” is one of a series of works of art, created by Tuscan artists, to accompany the quotations by the winners of the Casato Prime Donne award. This is practically an open air museum wanted by Donatella Cinelli Colombini near her winery staffed by women. Here the theme “woman” is a categorical imperative and the three Parisi family members have filled it with new and decidedly intriguing contents.
Here we will tell you the birth of “Punti di vista” with characters and episodes which have brought the work of art to its accomplishment. A family of artists, the Parisis, similar to those medieval painters in workshops where everyone had their role in the production of a work of art.

Violante Gardini celebrates the election as Presidente Toscana of the Movimento del Turismo del vino with a party open to the public for Calici di Stelle – August 10th – at Fattoria del Colle in southern Chianti.
Live music for dancing in the midst of the barrels and every half hour a pause for a wine tasting, before getting back onto the dance-floor, dedicate a few moments to a perfume, to the falling stars and to expressing wishes.
For those who wish to dine there will be a lovely buffet with 10 dishes among which a Chianina Tartar created especially for the occasion (28€).
The party at Fattoria del Colle will develp, with some extra touches the theme of Calici di Stelle 2013 in the Tuscan wineries <Wine and music stars >>.
A new rite, young, refined but in direct contact with nature and the suggestions of a night in the countryside. The music at Fattoria del Colle will begin at 10 pm to then continue until midnight when there will be a toast to the stars.

Riccardo Marzi is son and grand son of sculptors, he too has studied art and has worked in several art studios in Florence until he created his own laboratory. He has designed a range of objects made in resin where nature has been “captured”. So you have corn, ears of wheat, leaves, fruit portions all arrive on the table with a touch of nature and class. Class, because the artistic imprinting is present in each of these objects which are all different one from the other and all characterized with extreme compositive elegance.
