Do not be surprised if, in a restaurant with a high star rating, it is a woman who explains and recommends wines on the wine list to the customer, and a woman who conducts the tours of the wine cellars and production areas of top wine growers from around the world with confidence and competence. Women Sommeliers have finally arrived and are growing exponentially.
Amongst the Donne del Vino 9% of the members are sommeliers, a lot less than the percentage of wine manufacturers members, who are the heart of the association, but although they are a small percentage they are still a considerable number of individuals who are extremely authoritative on wine. The growth in numbers (among the Ais Sommeliers, they are ¼ of the total) and the qualitative component of these pink “priests” of the wine, is very noticeable due to the number of awards and premiums received by this group which increases each year.
Samantha Cristoforetti will be the first Italian woman to go into space , she was the First Prize winner of Premio Casato Prime Donne in 2010 in the land of Brunello.
When you see her up close she is a beautiful, intelligent, lively and cheerful woman …. we are talking about Samantha Cristoforetti, the first Italian woman to go into space. The mission is scheduled for November 2014 and aboard the Soyuz she will carry out several experiments in scientific, medical and pharmaceutical fields. She stayed at the Fattoria del Colle for a week together with a French colleague who coordinates the European ESA astronauts.

Albiera Antinori, Cesare Cecchi, Marco Pallanti and Abbruzzese Lucia were all at the lunch. Wonderful authentic culinary masterpieces created by Gaetano Trovato arrived at the table, all of which were served with impeccable style by his brother Giovanni: a choice of Blue Lobster Risotto with Lemon and Saffron from San Gimignano or Cinta Senese Pork with Red cabbage and Beetroot. A dream lunch, with stunning wines such as an almost twenty year old Ornellaia, which we tasted in glasses which were designed and created in 2011 by one of the most ancient and famous crystal producers in the world.
